Hello there! Happy Friiiiiday! I'm so glad you've stopped by today.
I am super excited to share some more projects with you! For today, I'll be focusing on the Tailored Tri-Fold Card Template that is included in the Color Couture June Download. This card template is soooo pretty and classic in styling and extremely versatile at the same time. Included in the June Download are 4 different sizes of this template and I've got lots of fun things to show you this week, using them. I think you just might find this to be a go-to template time and time again! The Color Couture Download will be available for purchase at Papertrey Ink on June 15th for just $5!
Before I get to these first two cards, I thought I'd take a minute to show you just what the templates look like.
When you purchase the Color Couture June Download for $5, you'll get 4 sizes of this template as well as 6 patterned papers and 3 Inspiration Inserts. I wanted to work with the 4 colors in the photo above for my cards today, so I printed out 4 pages of templates on the card stock colors I wanted to work with -- in this case, dark chocolate, simply chartreuse, raspberry fizz and orange zest. As you can see, the two smallest templates are on one page. I printed that page twice (raspberry fizz and orange zest) which will actually allow me to create 6 cards from these 4 pages.
Whenever I'm using one of my Color Couture card templates, I like to trim off all the straight edges with my paper trimmer which I've done in the above photo. It's fast and easy and all that's left is for me to trim up the curvy portion of the card with some paper snips. You can also see the faint score lines on the cards....this way you get a perfectly tri-folded card every time.
Here are the 6 cards I was able to create with those 4 sheets of card stock. Now that they're cut and scored, they're ready to be embellished any way you like! The shape of the card is such a classic one.....it's so pretty just as it is! But wait until we load 'em up with some cute embellishments!
That brings us back to the photo you saw at the top of this post......look at how versatile the Tailored Tri-Fold Template is! I was able to use all of the exact same supplies and yet created two completely different cards just by orienting the card either vertically or horizontally! That means that you have lots more options for how you can use this card template.....you can flip it whichever way you need to, to perfectly customize it for your project!
Here's the horizontally oriented card. (This card measures 3 7/8" x 5 1/2") I started with a bit of In Bloom patterned paper in raspberry fizz and added a scalloped border that I created from orange zest card stock with the medium scallop border die. I then added a thin strip of dark chocolate card stock across the length of the card.
Next, I die cut a frame from vintage cream card stock using Heather Nichols' new Fillable Frames #5 die and the coordinating frame stamp from the Fillable Frames #5 stamp set. I used the medium Beautiful Blooms II #2 die and then stamped a coordinating flower on the die cut from the Beautiful Blooms II stamp set as well as a couple of leaves from the same set. The sentiment is from Fillable Frames #5 and I stamped it in dark chocolate ink on orange zest card stock and finished the flower off with an orange zest button. All that was left was to tie a bow of simply chartreuse classic grosgrain ribbon around the card. Goodness.....I love this color combo!
And here's the vertical version of the same card. The base patterned paper and card stock layers are all in exactly the same place as on the previous card. I just moved the label focal point down to the bottom right corner of the card and tied the bow length wise around the card and flap vertically and positioned the bow in the upper left corner to balance out my focal point.
Next up is a long, skinny version of the Tailored Tri-Fold Template. I love how this template is so classic and pretty on it's own that you really don't have to add a ton of embellishments and I think this next card shows that really well.
I started out with a strip of patterned paper from the Green Boutique collection across the bottom of the card. Then, I tied a bow around the front part of the card only using Hawaiian Shores topnotch twill ribbon. Next, I die cut some vintage cream card stock with the Fillable Frames #4 die and then cut off the bottom portion of the die cut. That bottom portion is what I stamped my sentiment on and then I tucked it just under the ribbon when I adhered it to the front of the card.
Now for the cutie little button-closure treatment....I threaded two Hawaiian Shores buttons with rustic jute button twine and then stacked two squares of foam adhesive on the back of each button. This gives the buttons a bit of height, allowing twine to be wrapped around the buttons more easily.
When I adhered the top button to the flap, I took a long string of additional button twine and secured the end just under the foam adhesive. Then, I wrapped the twine back and forth a few times in a figure 8 motion, around both buttons, tying the card closed.
This card may be super cute, but it can also function as a perfect money holder!! By tying the ribbon around just the front of the card, I was able to easily create a way to tuck a money gift inside this card!! Cute AND functional.......gotta love that!
All right, dearies.....that's all I've got for you today. What do you think of the Tailored Tri-Fold Templates?? Can you see how easy they are to use? Are your wheels turning for ways that you could use these templates yourself? :)
Be sure to visit Nichole Heady today for lots more inspiration. She and Heather Nichols are showcasing all of Heather's new releases today! Lisa Johnson and Melissa Bickford will also have more peeks for you, at their newest stamp sets.
See you back here again tomorrow.....I know it's the weekend but we'll be showing you lots more Countdown projects all weekend long!
Take care,
