Hello there! It's the first of the month which means it's Senior Design Team Challenge day at Papertrey Ink and this month, we're focusing on the entire Fillable Frames series of stamps and dies, designed by Heather Nichols. Nichole challenged us to pull out our favorite stamp/die from the collection and that was an easy one for me.....Fillable Frames #4 has been my favorite for ages now. I've used it a couple of different ways today to show you just how versatile these stamps and dies are. I've made a mask and created a one-layer background effect, as well as a more dimensional look by using the die. Let me show you what I did.....
To look at this card, you might initially think that I used the Fillable Frames #4 die along with the stamp here, but I didn't. Only the flowers are popped up here because the frame, sentiment and background pattern are all stamped on the same layer!
I stamped the frame on a piece of copy paper and cut it out by hand, so I could cut it nice and close....right along the edge of the frame. Then, I laid it on a piece of rustic cream card stock (secured with a smidge of removable adhesive) and stamped the dotted background pattern over the whole panel, as well as right over the top of the copy paper mask. When I removed the mask, I had a nice little blank space left for the frame. Next, I stamped the dark chocolate frame in the space the mask had left behind, and then I stamped the sentiment from Fillable Frames Additions 2, using summer sunrise ink.
The above photo shows you a little better, how the frame is stamped on the same layer as the background. I then die-cut and stamped a flower and some leaves using the Rosie Posie stamps and dies and popped them up on the card front using a bit of foam adhesive.
I also can't seem to stamp a Rosie Posie flower any more, without adding a bit of shading with Copics. Maile did this during the last Countdown and it was sooo gorgeous!
Next up is a card with a lot of the same elements, however this time, the frame was die cut from aqua mist card stock, stamped with hawaiian shores ink, and adhered with foam adhesive, before the flowers were added on top with a bit more foam adhesive.
The sentiment was added to another strip of aqua mist card stock that was die cut with a double-ended banner die.
I used another of the stamps from Polka Dot Basics II, this time using dark chocolate ink. Like I said, the elements are similar, but I love the different looks you can achieve by either using the Fillable Frames stamp with the die or without.
Be sure to pop around to visit the other girls on the Senior Design Team today to see which of the Fillable Frames series is their favorite!
