Holy moly, it's September 1 which of course, means that it's time for the Senior Design Team challenge at Papertrey Ink! Can you believe that fall will be upon us before we know it?! I'm getting excited for it now.....things are still quite hot here, but some of the plants are starting to change, some of the tomato plants have quit producing and I know that fall is on it's way. I love fall. Have I told you that before? So with fall fast approaching, this month's challenge has us focusing on Halloween treat packaging using the Halloween Treats & Sweets stamp set and dies.
I've said before that I'm not really into the creepy crawly side of Halloween, but that doesn't mean that I don't love to make really pretty Halloween treat wraps that are sweet and elegant! And Halloween Treats & Sweets certainly makes that possible with it's darling images and sentiments, which pair beautifully with other dies and stamps....things like leaves and medallions and doilies!
I would also like to take this opportunity to once again profess my undying love and devotion to the pillow box die. :) It's such a perfect size for tucking small gifts and treats into, and it's SO much fun to decorate it up any way you'd like.
I stamped a few of the small circles from Background Basics: Morocco in smokey shadow ink, stamping the outer ring of each circle off once first, on scratch paper. Then I wrapped the pillow box with a piece of vintage book print and added part of a doily on top. Next I die cut a leaf from some canyon clay bitty dot paper with a Leaf Prints die. Lastly, I die cut a pumpkin bucket using the Bitty Halloween Treats & Sweets die and stamped it with the pumpkin face from Halloween Treats & Sweets and die cut a Tiny Tag and stamped it with one of the sentiments, also from Halloween Treats & Sweets. I tied the bucket and tag onto the pillow box with chocolate baker's twine, and then secured them in place with adhesive on the tag and foam adhesive on the bucket.
And here's the medium glassine bag I decorated to hold the pillow box (a wrap inside the wrap) :) using a lot of the same elements that I used on the pillow box.
I stamped a couple of sentiments from Halloween Treats & Sweets ("october 31" and "happy halloween") using canyon clay and smokey shadow inks. Here, the tag and bucket are tied onto the kraft/book print strip and once again, secured in place with adhesive on the tag and foam adhesive on the bucket for a bit of dimension.
And here's what it looks like when you put the pillow box inside the glassine bag. Fun! And a perfect fit!
I hope this has inspired you to whip up a treat or two for the girlfriends in your life! The other girls on the Senior Design Team have some more treat packaging inspiration for you today so be sure to pay each of them a visit!
