Beate's Inspiration Challenge #33

 

Good morning to you!!  It's Tuesday so I'm back with another inspiration challenge from Beate!  The thing that struck me about today's inspiration photo was how soft and shimmery it is so I decided to try and bring that element into my card.  I also stamped the branch, leaf and berry images (from Papertrey's Out on a Limb-revised stamp set) up the side and across the top to mirror the plant in the photo.

I used Gold Shimmer card stock as my card base ansd I stamped the leaves in two different colors of ink - spring moss and ripe avocado and then added berry accents with my Encore metallic gold stamp pad.  Then to make the berries even more shimmery, I put a dot of gold in the center of each gold berry with my Marvy Deco Color liquid gold pen.  SO handy and fun.

Beate's Inspiration Challenge #32

Hi-ya,

Back again with another Inspiration Challenge from Beate!  I chose to use the white walls and soft blue floor from the inspiration photo as my starting off point for my card.  After that, I decided to stamp a tall Eiffel Tower image in bright pink to mirror the tall bright orange cabinet.  

I realize that the obvious thing to do would have been to make a baby boy card with some orange in it, however I looooove the soft vintage-y feel of this card.  Reminds me of an antique Valentine.  OH, and just in case you're curious, the colors in my card are the colors I'm thinking of going with for the studio.  White furniture, soft Tiffany blue-ish walls and bright pink floral accents.  Very shabby chic, don't you think??

Beate's Inspiration Challenge #31

Hi-ya Crew!  Happy Tuesday to you!  We're off work today for Veteran's Day (Thank you Veterans!) and we'll be hitting the road soon for a little road trip, but before we head out, I have a card to share with you for Beate's Inspiration Challenge!  I decided to go felt-y and purple-y based on the inspiration photo!  Hope you like it!

 

I cut out the felt stars using my big shot and the Stars #2 die, and then I used some Bazzill embroidery floss to spruce 'em up a bit.  Be sure to stop by Beate's blog to see what she created as well as the other girls on the inspiration challenge team!

Beate's Inspiration Challenge #30

Hey there....Happy Election Day!  Have you voted yet? 

I hope you'll forgive me for using the Top Note & Flower Layers dies two days in a row, but when I sat down to make this card for Beate's Inspiration challenge this week, this is what evolved!  :)  I opted to leave off the largest layer on the flowers so that I could keep them a smaller scale so they'd be more balanced with the Top Note background.  I also decided to wrinkle the flowers up a bit to give them some more dimension.  I love that look!  Then I added some snazzy gemstones from Hero Arts to the flower centers and there you have it!  Hope you like it!

I have to say that I love this stamp from Papertrey's 2008 Holiday Tag Collection set.  It's great because you can use it all year long, not just at the holidays!  So handy!  There are several stamps in the set that are super versatile like that!

Beate's Inspiration Challenge #28

Hi-ya....It's Tuesday so you know what that means.....it's time for another Inspiration Challenge from Beate!  For today's challenge, I decided to pull out some of my patterned paper from Stampin' Up! because I wanted to capture some of that great orange color and I also loved the geometric patterns on these papers, to mirror some of that shape action from the photo.  I threw in a little stitching (which is seriously such a simple way to add some great texture to a project) and used my new Warm Happiness stamp set from Papertrey which is so cute and fun!

Is it just me or does it look like my card is wearing an apron???  Haha!!  That'd actually be a really cute orange apron, if it was one!  :)

To get that shimmery look on the mug, I used SU!'s tangerine tango ink on Papertrey's Gold Shimmer card stock.  Cool effect, huh?  Very shimmery in real life.

I loved the colors and decided to use my Guide Lines stamp set from Papertrey to mimic the graphic design in the scarf.  I'm also loving pairing Papertrey's plum pudding and vintage cream with SU!'s basic gray!

A Reason to Celebrate (& Beate's Insp Challenge #26)

Well, hello there!  Guess what today is!  Give up?  Today is my Blogiversary!!  I started this little blog a year ago today!  Can you even believe it?!  My, how time flies when you're having fun! 

So, in order to properly celebrate, I definitely think I should give some treats away.....after all, it's YOU that have made this blog so much fun for me! We'll get to the giveaways in a minute!  But first, I made a card for Beate's Inspiration Challenge this week!  Hee!  Can't forget that!

  

For those big white dots, I just punched out some circles using my 1 1/4" circle punch from Papertrey's vintage cream card stock, to match the card base.  So fun and easy.  And then before I stuck the black layer on the card base, I trimmed the edges of the circles off.  

In fact, I liked this card so much, I decided to whip up 4 more for my card stash box.  I can never have too many birthday cards!  :)  I could have added lots more glitz and glam, stitching, etc. to this card but I decided to keep it pretty simple with the idea that it could be for a guy or a girl.

Beate's Insp Challenge #25

Hi-ya, Happy Tuesday!  It's time again for Beate's Inspiration Challenge so I busted out my Out on a Limb stamp set from Papertrey for this card.  I stamped the flowers on the branches and then used the berry stamp with some Metallic Gold ink to add some shimmer over the top of the flowers.  I decided to go with some gold shimmer touches on the card instead of the silver and bronze from the inspiration photo.

I also used a piece of cork that was cut out with the Top Note die from Stampin' Up! using a Big Shot, thanks to Rebecca who sent me this when she sent me that fun balsa wood!  (Thanks R!)  I just punched holes out with my paper piercer all the way around the cork and used some DMC floss to stitch around it.

Beate's Insp Challenge #24

Hi All, 

Happy Tuesday!  It's Beate's Inspiration Challenge day and I LOVE this one!  I was so inspired by these glasses that I decided to whip up a set of four note cards that mirror those lovely brown/white glasses in the bottom of the picture, but I ALSO have another set of 8 cards that I'm working on too, that utilize some more of these yummy colors.  However, you're gonna have to wait til tomorrow to see those because the ink is currently drying on some little snippets of vellum that I used!  LOL!  

Anywho, for these, I stamped the image in Stampin' Up!'s chocolate chip ink on a piece of vellum from Papertrey.  I ran a strip of mono adhesive along the top of the vellum to adhere it to the white card base (also from Papertrey) and then covered that adhesive with ribbon since it does show thru the vellum a bit.  I love how simple and elegant these are.  Couldn't you see a box of these on the shelves at Target?  I would totally buy them!  But then again, I may be a tad biased...Hee!
