Hellooooooo!! Welcome to Day 1 of the Countdown to the June product release at Papertrey Ink! Nichole and the stamp designers and design team members have lots and lots in store for you this week.....there'll be tons of inspiration around Papertrey Blogland -- you can be sure of that! As for me, I'll be posting each day of the Countdown as well, showing you lots of fun projects featuring this month's Color Couture Download. In the June Download, you'll receive 6 different patterned papers and 4 different sizes of an adorable card template (more on that later this week!), plus 3 more Inspiration Inserts for the Color Couture Binder, featuring projects made by Melissa Phillips, Betsy Veldman and myself......and you get all of that for just $5!! And the beauty of the download is that once you purchase it for $5, you can print those items as many times as you want. It's like having a never ending supply of patterned papers and such!
In each Color Couture Download, there are always 2 patterned papers for each of the color combos featured in that download. Since we released the Color Couture Embellies - Volumes 4-6 Collection last month, this month's download will feature those same color combos from Volumes 4-6. I'll have lots of projects to share with you this week, showcasing how easy it is to mix and match these downloadable papers and card templates with all of your other paper-crafting goodies! Let's get started, shall we?
As you can see in the above photo, I created some cute little wrappers for Papertrey's medium glassine bags.....a totally fun way to give the simple little gift of a cookie!
To start out, you'll want to print out your patterned paper. I used this fun dotty pattern that coordinates with the Volume 5 Color Couture Embellies and printed it out on stamper's select white card stock. The papers are 8" x 8". Next, I cut it in 3" strips....one strip for each bag that you want to wrap.
Next, flip the paper over and score it at 2" from the end on one side and 2 1/8" on the other end.
Now you'll want to apply adhesive all around the edges of the wrap. I used scor-tape and it works wonderfully.
Now you can lay the bag on the wrap -- face down.....
.....and then wrap the ends around to the back side of the bag. Now the entire piece of patterned paper should be adhered directly to the bag. It may seem like you couldn't fit a cookie in the bag, however it opens up quite nicely to create a little pocket for your cookie or other treat!
Here are the little cuties all lined up in a row. (I love shots of matching sets of goodies all lined up in a row! Ha.) The bag on the left has a cookie in it -- perfect fit. You could make your own cookies or you could do what I did and use some store-bought cookies. (I happen to love these snickerdoodles from Target -- their Archer Farms brand. The cookies come about a dozen or so in a box and each cookie is individually wrapped.) Just take the cookies out of the ugly packages and slide them into your own custom cookie bags! You can fold the top of the bag over and secure with a simple staple at the top.
Wouldn't these be SO fun as party favors perhaps at a bridal or baby shower? How about treats to take to your co-workers at the office - just because? Or to your book club friends? What about a moms' group or a ladies' group at church? The list goes on and on.......they're a simple little gift that doesn't cost much at all, but wouldn't receiving one of these little treats totally brighten your day? And besides that, you could include any number of treats in these little bags if you didn't want to do cookies. Brownie squares, candy, mini notepads, embellies or other crafty goodies.....
You're getting a peek at couple of new stamp sets here -- designed by Melissa Bickford! In fact, Nichole Heady, Betsy Veldman and Melissa herself will all be featuring this set on their blogs today so I'll let them give you all of the details about the set but I used one of the fun flowers, flower centers, leaves and sentiments all from the set on these little wrappers. I simply punched out the flower with a scalloped circle punch from Marvy, punched out the flower centers with a 3/4" circle punch and hand cut the leaves. Goodness but they're awfully cute when layered on the Fillable Frames #4 die cut, aren't they?
I used the 3 colors in the dotty paper as my guide for the colors I would use on the embellishments I added to the wrappers. Since the paper has raspberry fizz, terracotta tile and orange zest dots, those are the papers and inks I used for each of the layers -- flower, center, die cut label and scalloped strip along the bottom. After I scalloped the strip of card stock with the small scallop border die, I stamped the "YOU" in versamark ink and then stamped the "JUST FOR" right over the top of the word YOU with dark chocolate ink. I adhered those strips directly to the front of the paper/bag using another strip of scor-tape.
I just love how easily these little bags came together and yet they pack a powerful punch. Are you in the mood to create some little treat holders for someone special now??? :)
Next up is a cheery little birthday card that features both of the June Download patterned papers that coordinate with the Volume 5 color combo. The fun number paper works for lots of things....fun school themed projects and birthday projects being among them. I inked up the edges of all of the layers of paper with vintage touch tea dye ink and love the cheerful orange zest grosgrain bow.
For the focal point of the card, I reached for the Fillable Frames #4 die again. Um, it must be said that I looove that die! Anyway.....I stamped the sentiment and flourish image, both from Big & Bold Wishes, directly on the raspberry fizz die cut using versmark ink and then finished it off with a sweet little melon berry button.
And lastly for today, a bit more masculine birthday card for you. If you look closely at the card base, you can see a sneakie peek of a new impression plate coming out this month! (Watch Nichole's blog for more info about that!)
I couldn't resist pairing the Color Couture number paper with the number star from Star Prints! Are they perfect together, or what?! I die cut the number paper with the mat stack 1 die and then ran a strip of rustic cream card stock thru my big shot with the same die. This was the perfect way to add my sentiment to the label shape before attaching the star with foam adhesive. (Watch Nichole's blog for more info this week, about that pretty sentiment too!) I layered a strip of kraft card stock under the label and finished the card off with a terracotta tile button on either side.
I hope you're feeling a bit inspired to get crafty now! I also hope you'll come see me again tomorrow, for more peeks at the Color Couture June Download!
And like I said earlier, there are lots of Papertrey team members to visit for more inspiration! Nichole Heady, Betsy Veldman and Melissa Bickford will all be showcasing Melissa's new stamp sets. Heather Nichols has lots of new goodies to show you this week. Lisa Johnson will also have peeks for you, at her newest stamp set.
Thanks so much for stopping by today....I appreciate your company so much.
Have a GREAT day, dear friends......
