This is a cautionary tale about a girl and her new shirt.
So this past Sunday, I was singing on the worship team at church. On Saturday, my new shirt came in the mail and I thought to myself, "Sweet! Now I don't have to worry about what I'll wear to church tomorrow."
"I'll wear my new shirt."
"It's sleeveless so it'll be cooler on the stage at church. It's black -- black is very slimming! And though it's lacey, I'll wear a tank top under it and it'll be perfect!"
Now, I don't know what kind of church you go to or if you go to church at all. But at our church, we clap and raise our hands during the worship service. That may not be for everyone, but it's what we do. :)
Also, our church is kinda on the biggish side. We have a big stage complete with a curtain that goes up and down (though not on Sundays) and stage lights which can be pretty hot and 3 big jumbo screens where they project what's happening on the stage, from the two big cameras at the back.
So Sunday, I wore my new shirt and even took a picture (see above), which in retrospect is quite handy since there is now The Story Of The New Shirt.
I sang my heart out during the worship services -- both of them. I clapped.
And I raised my hands. A lot. They were great worship services!
And then we got home and we ate lunch and after lunch, I went to change clothes. As I was lifting my arms to take off my new shirt, I happened to see my arm pits in the mirror and did a double-take! Now let me just interject that it's pretty hot on the stage at church (remember all those stage lights?) and no amount of deodorant can keep your pits completely dry under that kind of pressure! It's not my fault! It's the lights! It's the liiiights!
That being said, my new shirt had shed black fuzz all over my arm pits!!!
I ran to the kitchen where Bart was standing, raised my arms high and said, "LOOK!"
He said, "At what?"
I said, "MY PITS!!" (as I pointed wildly) "Did you see this on the big screens at church???? I look like I'm on Survivor and haven't shaved my arm pits in weeks!!!"
He said he didn't see it on the big screens, but is this a classic case of a man who just wasn't that observant, while half the church now thinks I never shave my arm pits??? Or did no one else have to witness this atrocity but me? I don't know. Haha! I suppose I'll never know.
So let this be a lesson to you, if you're gonna wear a new shirt and you get a little hot, check your pits.
I'm just sayin'.
Learn from my mistakes.
I'm here for you.
