Happy Friday, Friends! I'm back in action today, with lots of fun goodies to share including a card for Kristina's color inspiration challenge. Fun, fun colors! Have I mentioned how much I love color?! I couldn't help but use some of my delicious felt for this card. And, to create that fun background pattern, I used Papertrey's Guide Lines stamp set. As for the sentiment, I used the label stamp from the new Recipe Box Label set. I just trimmed off the flourishes on the ends of the box, so that it would fit my card better! The sentiment from Birthday Basics fits in the box perfectly!! Actually, several of the birthday sentiments in that set are a perfect fit.
The felt flowers are held together with the stitches that are holding the buttons on. So simple, and then I used Pop-Up Glue Dots to adhere them to the card.
I never did share photos with you from a couple weekends ago when Bart and I went out to the Bingham-Waggoner Estate.
We got to tour the whole house for $5 each, we had our own personal tour guide and it was seriously the best $10 we've spent in a long time on entertainment. SO cool! Our guide was a sweet little lady with a lot of spunk, who knew a TON about the property. She'd even been in all of these really cool old storage/crawl spaces in the attic!
AND, she played the big antique music box for us as well as the old Victrola record player! THAT is cool, let me tell you.
90% of the house's furnishings are original pieces from the Bingham-Waggoner family and she told us from the start that we could sit on any of the furniture if we got tired, told us we could actually play the antique Steinway grand piano, she let us open doors and drawers and crawl spaces, and even pulled up some pieces of wood out of the floor in the attic that she thought someone might have once used as a secret spot to hide things! I've never been to a museum type home that was more hand's on. It was fantastic! I loved it because we could really get a feel for what life in the house would have been like.
BTW, Kristina's nail polish picture above reminds me....I really need to repaint my nails too! Hahahaha! I have a plan for this though. Bart laughs at me but this just works for me. I wait till bedtime and then put my pajamas on, floss/brush my teeth (dental hygiene is important), get totally ready for bed and THEN I paint my nails. Then I carefully go over to my side of the bed and even more carefully pull back the covers and super, super carefully climb into bed, all the while taking care to lay down so that my pj's don't get all twisted up around me or anything. (Who can sleep like that?) Then Bart (because he has pity on me) throws the blanket and sheet back over across me, so I don't have to pull up the covers with wet nails. I lay my hands up on my pillow so that my nails are peeking out from under the covers (cause it's been a little cool at night lately) and I lay perfectly still. For some reason, I have the ability to sleep without moving around in bed, if I know I have freshly painted nails. It's rare that I mess them up, or even get a sheet-print in them! I'm talented like that. :)
Take care, Peeps! We'll chat again soon.
