Well, I don't know about you but we had a fabulous Thanksgiving Day and the fun's not over yet. We spent the day with Bart's side of the family (who I love so much) and then last night we had dinner with my side of the family to celebrate Thanksgiving as well as a couple of birthdays. Had so much fun lovin' on my sweet baby niece and laughing our head's off playing games! Tonight, we're hanging out with Bart's side of the family again. It's been so busy but so fun too. I thought I'd share the birthday card with you that I made for my rock star brother as well as a few fun photos of our gathering last night.
This is me and my siblings. :) (Glory, Grace, Me, Diann, David)
How cute is that? Of course, she was trying to figure out how to work the buttons on the tv.
And look who walked across the floor with me only holding ONE hand!
Ally and momma.
A shot of the sisters. So glad we got to spend time together....we don't seem to get enough of that these days. Can't wait for new baby niece or nephew to arrive....things will just be even more fun. :)
On a more serious note, we've been having some doggie trauma here this weekend, in the midst of all of the family festivities. For the past week or two, Riley has been limping off and on. At times, he runs around like everything is normal and then other times we'll come home to find that he's completely unable to put weight on his back hip at all, so he just hobbles around on 3 legs keeping one leg pulled up to him. He yelps and cries when he attempts to stand up. So this morning we took him to the vet and at this point we're unsure exactly what the problem is. They took x-rays that are inconclusive, so Monday we're in line to try and get an apmt. with an orthopedic specialist. At this point, they think that he's either got a hip fracture, a bad case of arthritis or a degenerative hip disease. At the vet's this morning, we were sitting in the exam room and they'd taken him down the hall so they could muzzle him (because of the severe pain he was in, they always muzzle them because their behavior can be unpredictable) and do an exam and x-rays. I have to admit that it broke my heart to hear him down the hall crying and yelping in pain....I lost it a bit and cried while we waited. So hard to hear. Riley is a super active, healthy boy normally and we've not had ANY major issues like this with him (he's 8 years old now) so this has been pretty difficult. I know he's 'just a dog' but he's been our 'baby' since the day he was born. I even had to bottle feed him for a bit when he was a teeny baby that fit in my hand, because his mother couldn't. We love our boy so it's hard to see/hear him hurting.
For now, they've got him on pain meds and he's doing much better. In fact, Bart built our first fire of the season when we got home this morning, and we've just been taking it easy on a pallet on the floor in front of the fire. Riley's pretty content to be back at home and not hurting. We're praying that they'll be able to get us in on Monday so we can get some sort of diagnosis and a plan to help him, as quickly as possible.
Oh, and before I go, I want to give a rather over-due shout out to a few sweet girls that tagged me on their blogs lately. Thank you so much to Stephanie, Amber, Melanie & my sweet friend Cath! You girls are dears to think of me....I appreciate it!
Hope you all have a wonderful rest of this U.S. holiday weekend. Much love to you!
