Hi there! I want to tell you a bit about a super special woman that I love dearly. She treats me like one of her own daughters. She invites me over to watch movies when Bart is gone reffing in the fall and winter. She always remembers my birthday. She brings me treats when she comes back from vacation. She and her husband have Bart and I over all the time, for dinner. They have a great patio in their back yard and we spend many a summer evening gathered around their patio table eating dinner and listening to music and enjoying the weather or roasting marshmallows and making s'mores. She is extremely generous, she has a huge heart, she is such a treasure and the best part is that she only lives two doors away. :)
Her name is Shahla and she's my neighbor, my friend, & we go to church together.....she and her husband are like family to us so this Mother's Day, I couldn't forget to recognize her for the blessing she is in my life. OH, and a little side note -- she just happens to love drinking hot tea! Sooooo......I decided to make her a little set of tea themed note cards that she can give to others.
I used the adorable Tea For Two stamp set along with my favie Polka Dot Basics to create a set of cards that are color coordinated, but are each unique. I stamped 4 different sizes of polka dots -- a different sized dot stamp for each of the 4 note cards, however I stamped all of the dots in dark chocolate ink on vintage cream card stock to tie all of the cards together. Then, I chose a fun color combo of pinks and reds to use - one color per card w/the brown and cream. Fun, huh?? :)
I have lots of photos here to share, but that's just so that you can see some of the little details I put on each individual card to make each one unique. One thing I made sure to do on all 4 cards, was to add a touch of subtle bling with my Sakura Stardust gel pen. You can see on this first card, that I just added two simple little lines drawn with a ruler. Nothing fancy, but I love the little touch it added and it just goes to show that you don't have to spend a fortune on embellishments in order to add some great details to your cards! That little gel pen only cost a couple of dollars but I can get a lot of mileage out of it. :)
I used raspberry fizz with dark chocolate & vintage cream on this card.
This card has hibiscus burst paired with the dark chocolate and vintage cream. Don't you just love that sentiment stamp?
Notice the two shimmery lines at the top of this card? More gel pen. :)
I did a little stitching on this one by poking holes out first, where I wanted to sew my little x's, and then used a good ole needle and thread to stitch these. Super easy but I just love the effect. (I did put a bit of adhesive on the back of the ribbon first, to hold it in place while I stitched, and I wrapped the ends around the red strip of card stock and taped them on the back. Then I adhered that whole red & brown card stock strip to my red card base.)
Shimmery gel pen line under the sentiment...and this card is pure poppy with the dark chocolate and vintage cream.
Check out that big button! That's one from Papertrey's Vintage Button Collection. Love those dark chocolate buttons!
This time, I used the gel pen to draw a little square on my scalloped card stock, drawing the corners out past where they meet. This card is berry sorbet with dark chocolate and vintage cream.
Then, to package them up, I used one of Papertrey's Large Glassine Bags. This is a perfect fit for 4 standard sized cards and envelopes! I just punched a hole in the top, threaded my ribbon through and tied a bow. Then added a tag and some embellies and that's it!
I love how this all came together and I can't wait to give it to Shahla this weekend to let her know just how much she means to me. :)
P.S. Have you started making plans to attend the CHA Craft SuperShow this summer??? Nichole posted information about this exciting event on her blog today so you'll want to be sure and check it out! I'll be there and hope you can make it to! I'd love to meet you at the Papertrey Booth!!
