Hi Everyone,
Thought I'd share pictures with you from our last day with our Australian friends. The first stop for us on Sunday was our church. It was so fun to show John & Lynn where we go to church and to introduce them to some of our friends. I think all Americans love that Australian accent. I don't know what it is, but it's a proven, scientific fact....I'm almost sure. ;)
After that, we headed to our favorite Sunday brunch spot - the Bristol. It's a seafood restaurant that puts out a brunch buffet that'll make your mouth water. Everything from waffles to fresh cuts of roast beef, ahi tuna sashimi to fresh fruits, lobster macaroni to mini key lime cheesecakes. The list goes on and on but I think you get the idea!
After brunch, we were headed to Nell Hill's but because of some road construction, ended up taking the scenic route thru part of the city. Snapped a photo of this gem, located right behind the Kansas City Museum. Not too shabby, huh?
You've heard me talk about Nell Hill's before. There's a store in Atchison, Kansas that is famous nation-wide and has been featured in home decor magazines and there's a big new store right here in town too. They're both filled with room after room of items to decorate your home with, but the rooms are set up as though you're IN someone's home. SO pretty. Both stores are different and lovely and completely inspiring to walk thru. I can't help but take pictures when we go there. And remember when we toured Mary Carol Garrity's home (the owner)?
OK, so after Nell Hill's, we went to the mall so Lynn could see what our mall was like. (Basically just like their mall) I'm wondering if I'm the last person to learn about Pandora jewelry??? They're basically build-your-own bracelets where you choose the chain (love the silver) and then you buy individual beads to put on your bracelet. You can keep it simple and build an all gold or silver bracelet, or you can add a few of the super cute & colorful Murano glass beads! They're so pretty. Probably not something you'd buy all at once since they could be a bit spendy depending on what you choose, but you could certainly add a bead here and there over time. Lynn received one of their bracelets for her birthday from one family member and then several other family members also gave her a bead or two for her bracelet to get her started. So cool. AND, since the beads can be added or taken off at any time, you can change the colors out on your bracelet to coordinate with your outfit that day. Handy! There's your fun gift idea for the day! Ha!
After the mall, we headed home to rest for a bit before dinner.
We went to the Hereford House for some top-notch Kansas City steak for dinner. It was sooooo good. Bart and I don't eat a ton of steak (though we do love it), so it was a fun treat for sure.
After dinner, we just couldn't head home without going across the street for some Italian gelato to remind us of that trip to Europe when we all met! We just love Paciugo Gelato. It's pretty new here and I love the fact that it's so much like the gelato you get in Europe. Mmmm!
That about rounds out our Sunday. We went home and hung out on the deck for awhile after dinner so they could soak up as much heat as possible since it's winter in Australia now! We also tried to catch lightening bugs, since they don't have those in Australia either! LOL! It was a GREAT weekend with our friends and I so hope they'll come visit again some day. And who knows......we just might have to make a trip to visit them one of these years too. ;)
P.S. Working on the graphics for both the Spotlight and the next Color Challenge so hang tight. I'll post them SOON.....and I even got back in the studio and made a card tonight! Will share that with my Spotlight post as well! Toodles!
