Happy Sunday to you! First off, Bart has asked me to tell you all thank you so much for the warm birthday wishes you left for him here. He's very appreciative of your kind words. I told him I'd pass along his thanks. :) We had a fabulous birthday dinner last night....salmon for him and king crab legs for me, followed up by gelato at our favorite gelato shop. We relaxed all day and had a great date night out....all in all, a great birthday, I'd say!
I do have a tip for you.....especially in these tough economic times, I know we're always glad for money saving tips so I thought I'd share this one. If you like seafood and have a McCormick & Schmick's near you, they have a great 'preferred guest membership' program. You pay $25 for the membership, but they immediately send you a $25 gift certificate to use in their restaurant so you get that money back. Besides being able to earn points for every dollar spent, which you can redeem for free desserts, entrees, etc., they also send you a certificate good for a free entree each year for your birthday! Bart and I both joined the program a couple years ago and can attest to the fact that every year for our birthdays, we each receive a 'free entree' certificate. I think the entrees run between maybe $19 and $35 and you can choose whichever entree you prefer, for your free birthday dinner! We love being able to go out for a really nice dinner for half the cost that we'd normally have to spend! Such a great deal! Just thought I'd share....in case it could benefit any of you too. :)
Now that I've taken care of business, I have cards to share with you tonight. These are the cards I made for the Papertrey August release.....the cards that don't use Scattered Showers Additions! LOL!
On this first card, I used Tiffany Pastor's new Fall Elegance set and paired it up with strips of patterned paper from the In Bloom collection. I loved zig-zag stitching those papers to my card front. Before I did it though, I inked up the edges of each strip with Vintage Touch tea dye ink. Such a warm and cozy card, don't you think?
On this next one, I used Nichole Heady's new Autumn Abundance stamp set and paired it with more In Bloom paper, except on this one, I decided to make ruffles out of those papers. I adhered the top of the ruffles to the card front using Scor-Tape. Easy peasy!
I selected Papertrey inks that I wanted to use to color my image with. I pressed each ink pad onto a clear acrylic block to create a small pool of ink, and then I used a blender pen to pick up a bit of the ink and then to color the image. It's a great way to get more out of your ink pads, and can give you just another option for how to work with outline images such as this one, when you don't have specialty markers or watercolors or the like.
This happy little card features Heather Nichols' new stamp set, Boo To You. I used my Vintage Touch tea dye ink to not only shabby up the edges of my papers on this card, but I also used it to stamp the stars on the white card stock panel. Again, another great way to get more mileage out of a specialty ink!
Doesn't that little candy bucket just make you smile? Oh.....and more In Bloom paper on this one. I can't stop with the In Bloom! ;)
And lastly for today, this card uses Melissa Bickford's new Sign Language set.
I decided that I wanted to pair the sign up with the grass image from Everyday Button Bits. This sort of 'grounded' the sign image....no pun intended! Hee!
Sooo......did you get to order some new Papertrey goodies this month? If so, I hope you have fun with those goodies when they arrive! And for those of you that ordered Scattered Showers Additions, you know I'd love to see what you make when you get your new set!
Hope you're having a great day, Friends!! Chat soon!
