Hello and welcome to the first day of the Papertrey Countdown! I'm thrilled to introduce you to Signature Christmas -- the newest stamp set in my Raspberry Suite stamp line! Signature Christmas contains 14 holiday sentiments made up of my own handwriting and a classic text making this set extremely versatile, whether your taste is more trendy or a bit more traditional. AND, Signature Christmas will sell for just $15!! It will be available for sale on September 15. I can't wait to show you just how easy it is to pair the sentiments in this set with sooo many different styles and looks from vintage to modern and everything in between! There really is something for just about everyone in this handy holiday sentiment stamp set! Let's get started, shall we?? :)
On this first card, I pulled out a few older stamp sets to create this simple but elegant Christmas card. The snowflakes are from the Holiday Treats stamp set. Notice how I stamped them in 3 different colors on the ripe avocado card stock? I used ripe avocado, spring moss & vintage cream inks. I love how different each color looks when stamped on this dark green.
Check out the plaid pattern!! Is that totally fun or what? I have a few tips for you, if you'd like to create a similar monochromatic pattern for yourself! First off, I used two different stamp sets to achieve this look. The stamp with 5 skinny stripes is from Background Basics: Retro. The other two stamps that I used to create the dark green stripe and the wider moss stripe are both from Faux Ribbon.
I started out by cutting a piece of spring moss card stock that I wanted to create my plaid pattern on. I stamped the "5 skinny stripes" stamp first - stamping on a diagonal, using vintage cream ink, and alternating it with the mid-sized ripe avocado stripe. I repeated these two stripes over the entire piece of spring moss card stock. You'll probably feel like the vintage cream isn't showing up enough but trust me on this one!! It's all good!! ;) After you get all of those stripes finished, you'll want to turn your card stock so that you can stamp the wide stripes using spring moss ink, making sure that these stripes are perpendicular to the stripes you've already stamped. The coolest thing happens when you stamp those wide spring moss stripes -- the vintage cream "skinny stripes" will almost POP out at you!! All of a sudden, that vintage cream ink that you couldn't see very well before, becomes super visible and a very integral part of this plaid pattern! SO fun! (I LOVE the new spring moss pigment ink! If you haven't tried it yet, you're missing out!)
Next up is a card that features one of the sentiments from Signature Christmas as well as some beautiful images from Melissa Bickford's new Peaceful Poinsettia stamp set! I stamped the flowers in true black ink on pure poppy Bitty Dot Basics patterned paper and cut them out. Next, I stamped the leaf image in ripe avocado ink on ripe avocado bitty dot paper and cut them out as well! I layered them on a piece of stamper's select white card stock that I'd cut out using my Top Note die from Stampin' Up! and then embossed using my Provo Craft swiss dot embossing folder. I did both the die-cutting and the embossing of that white piece using my Big Shot. (Love that thing!)
One thing to note is that Papertrey started carrying rhinestones last month and they come with a variety of sizes in each pack. The smallest of those rhinestones fits perfectly in the circles that make up the centers of these poinsettias! Easy peasy!
And lastly for today, I have a card to share with you that uses another sentiment from Signature Christmas, paired with a fun background image also from Background Basics: Retro and a coordinating tag image from the 2008 Holiday Tag Collection stamp set.
I just love using these coordinating stamps together! Papertrey is so great about giving us so many mix and match options, aren't they? :) If you stamp this tag image and punch it out using a 1 3/4" circle punch, there is a border left around the image that is just perfect for running a 2-way glue pen around and adding some glitter! The large gems are some that I picked up from Archivers the other day, by Kaiser Scrapbook and the glitter is 'white gold' by Martha Stewart. I cut out the label shape using my Cricut Expression and the Storybook cartridge.
I hope you've enjoyed these first glimpses of Signature Christmas!! I'd love to hear your thoughts so far! Have you been wishing for a hand-written look for your cards but dreaded the thought of writing out the sentiments yourself? ;)
I'll be back tomorrow with lots more to show you from Signature Christmas! Be sure to stop by Nichole's blog to see what all she's created using Melissa's Peaceful Poinsettia set and Melissa and Lauren will have peeks at this new set as well! And, I think Beth will be showing you some sneaks of her new set too!
