Hi All! Happy Wednesday to each of you! I've decided to call these Winter's Valentines because I plan to send these off to my friend, Winter Sims, for her card drive for the children at St. Jude's Hospital aaaaaaaaaaaand, because it's snowing like a banshee outside my windows right now!!! Hahaha! Seriously, it's coming down like you wouldn't believe (unless you're one of my Minnesota friends or the like!) and it's just piling up on the piles of snow that still haven't melted from before Christmas. This is the most snow that we've had on the ground and for the longest time too, in probably years. It's the craziest thing. BUT, it's oh-so-beautiful and it makes me ever so grateful for this cozy home of ours. No time to sit in front of a blazing fire tonight though. Bart's driving to a basketball game in this mini blizzard (he's a referee) and I'm tucked in the studio for an evening of paper-crafting. Not a bad way to spend a frigid wintry night.....I just wish my 'boy' was home with me. :)
Anyway, back to the card and Winter and the card drive....
I decided to take a cue from my sweet friend Jennifer McGuire (and her cute cards for St. Jude's) and keep these cards super simple, but that makes it so easy to whip up several in just a matter of minutes. In fact, I whipped up 3 more in probably about as much time as it took me to design the first one. Those last 3 came together so quickly that I was thinking I should have made you a video of it. Must get my nerve up for a card-making video.....I don't want to bore you though! (Thank you for all of your video suggestions!! They are helping me a ton, to know what you want to see videos of, so keep 'em coming!)
Here are my finished cards. I created my card base from aqua mist card stock. Next, I added a block of (my FAVORITE) patterned paper from the Simple Valentine collection. (Seriously, I'd use that paper on every project if I could! Ha!) Then, I stamped the 'hugs & kisses' sentiment strip on a bit of rustic cream card stock, scalloped the bottom edge with a punch and adhered that to the card. All that was left to do was punch out a couple of hearts using the two heart punches that Papertrey carries and added a pure poppy button to the larger heart. Quick and easy, but hopefully they'll brighten a few little ones' days while they're in the hospital.
