Hello, my sweet friends. The enchanting Melissa Phillips has done it again.....she's issued another inspiration challenge based on this GORGEOUS photo by Leslie at A Creative Mint. I shared the link to this particular Vingnettes of Color blog post with you last week when I talked about Leslie's beautiful blog, because this post is one of my favorites that she's done....so when I saw that Melissa wanted to use this photo for her challenge, I was ALL IN, Baby! ;) This photo showcases some of my most favorite things.....crafting supplies, office supplies, paper, ink, patterns, buttons, texture......love it all. So, here's the card I created for this week's inspiration challenge. (Thanks so much, Leslie & Melissa!)
The background paper was stamped with Background Basics: Text Style II and the buttons along the bottom are wooden buttons that Papertrey used to carry. On the 'finished' side of the buttons, they're a polished dark brown, however the back side was the perfect rustic 'kraft-y' look I was going for!
I created my own little tag and stamped it with some Background Basics: Hearts and used a sentiment from Everyday Classics, Papertrey's free anniversary set from last year, I think it was. I just love that font combo....so classic and a bit vintage. It reminds me of vintage packaging or newspaper print from long ago.
One other quick tip.....I love using the saddle stitch ribbons because they're so easy to work with since the stitching shows up on both sides of the ribbon. However, since the stitching is bright white, it sometimes doesn't work quite so well with cream card stock, which is what I was working with today. Soooo......I just took my YG91 Copic Marker and touched it gently to each little 'stitch' on the ribbon and it colored the white, softening it just a tad and making it look just PERFECT with all of the cream and kraft on this card!! There's your handy-dandy little quick tip of the day! Ha.
I hope you've gained a bit of inspiration today. Be sure to see what Melissa created for her challenge and a few other special guests are playing along today as well. Heather Nichols, Maile Belles, Betsy Veldman and Mish Wooderson have all created projects inspired by today's gorgeous photo!
Also, don't forget that there are lots of festivities going on over at Nichole's blog today!! She's got a few prizes to give away as well.....and one of them is HUGE! I don't think you're gonna want to miss out on a chance to win this one! ;) And, I just wanted to wish Kelly Purkey a warm welcome as Papertrey's newest Distinguished Guest Designer....we're so glad to have you, Kelly!
Take Care, Dearies!
