Hey there! Welcome back to Day 4 of sneak peeks at my newest stamp set, Studio Style, and my new Color Couture line (both, available on Feb. 15 at Papertrey Ink). I'm so excited to share today's projects with you, plus I've got a video for you too!
Today is the day of the Countdown that Nichole is featuring Studio Style on her blog as well as a gorgeous stamp set that she designed called Year of Flowers: Violet. She's also got another fabulous giveaway for you (including BOTH of these new stamp sets!) so be sure to visit her blog for all the details on how you can enter to win this amazing prize package!
If you've been visiting me here at the blog-o for very long, you've probably seen some of the handmade embellies that I've come to love creating for my Etsy shop. You can see some of them HERE and HERE. My funny friend Mish has made some of her own varieties lately too, and so Nichole's challenge for today is to create a flower embellishment of some sort, use it on a card and also create a sheet of embellies that you could send to a crafty friend along with your card. Here's what I came up with for Nichole's challenge....
I started out by stamping flowers and leaves from Year of Flowers: Violet as well as jars of buttons and stacks of ribbon spools from Studio Style. I made sure to include enough extras to use on my card and then I colored them all with various Copic markers. Next up, I cut them all out with some paper snips and here was the result...
ACK! Aren't those soooo pretty? I don't say that because I made them, but I say that because those flowers that Nichole designed are just soooo pretty! Coloring them in is really quite fun and relaxing. After I got them cut out, I added a little bit of glitter to each one. I attached the leaves to the flowers and put some foam adhesive on the backs of each flower so that they're ready to be used. If you leave the paper backing on the foam adhesive, you can use a glue stick, hot glue gun, etc. to adhere the foam adhesive to the clear acetate sheet so that the recipient can just peel them off the plastic and they're ready to stick on their project.
Here is a sheet of buttons and ribbon embellies, colored with some of the same Copics that I used on the flowers. How cute would these be, tucked inside a coordinating card along with the flower embellies?! LOVE!
Here's the card I created to complete the ensemble. The great thing about all of the sentiments in the Studio Style set is that you can pair them up with any images -- you don't just have to use the images from Studio Style. I love this "Thank You, Crafty Friend!" sentiment paired with Nichole's beautiful flowers.
Next up, I have another card for you that features a Color Couture embellie from the Volume 3 collection. The "Cheer up, Buttercup" embellie is one that includes a bit of Damask Designs right inside the oval, so it was a cinch to create this card by pairing it with a background stamped with Damask Designs!
I added a couple of wood buttons to either side of the embellie to finish off the card.
And since several of you have asked to see a video about how I cut images and embellies out, I created a video for you with a few tips on cutting images! Here you go!
I hope the video gave you a few little tips to help you improve your cutting skills and I hope you've enjoyed today's post! Feel free to leave a comment and tell me your thoughts on today's projects, the video or just life in general! Hee. You know I love hearing from you.
Don't forget to head over to see what Nichole has created with Studio Style and Year of Flowers: Violet and to get in on the big contest, plus Mish Wooderson is highlighting Studio Style on her blog today and Debbie Olson is highlighting Year of Flowers: Violets! Heather Nichols, Niki Estes, Melissa Bickford and Alli Miles will all have peeks at their new sets again today, and Kim Hughes will have another Click Simple template peek for you. Talk about a TON of inspiration to be had!
I'll be back tomorrow with TWO posts for you....you'll get one more day of glimpses at Studio Style and Color Couture before the big release, plus my first official Senior Design Team post. Can't wait!
