Hello! Today is THE day -- the big Papertrey Anniversary release is finally here! You've waited anxiously during all of the Annivesary festivities, getting more and more excited with each passing day, about all of the amazing releases this month and tonight is finally the night that you will be able to order those fabulous goodies! Yippee! I've got a few more projects to share with you today, while you count down to midnight! Hee.
First up is a project that I'm super excited about. Did you see those adorable little "matchbooks" in the photo above??? Sigh.....I love them. And the best part is, you can tuck little glassine bags of buttons inside them, for treats to give to your friends! I created the matchbooks to fit the small glassine bags perfectly and I've got all of the measurements to share with you. Here's how I started:
You'll want to cut your card stock in strips that are 9 1/4" x 3". This means that you can create two of these matchbooks out of one sheet of 8 1/2" x 11" card stock.
After you cut the card stock, you'll want to score it at 3/4", 5" and at 5 1/4" and you can go ahead and fold it at those score lines.
Next, you'll take a stapler and put one staple in the center of the bottom flap, essentially stapling that flap 'shut'. Be sure to put your staple in the center of the 3" side and you'll want to keep the staple close to the end of the matchbook. You'll need enough room to tuck the top flap under this bottom flap.
Here's what the matchbook looks like when it's tucked closed.
Now, to put a small glassine bag with a few buttons in it, you'll want to go ahead and put some buttons in your bag. Fold the top of the bag down twice. As you can see in the above photo, you'll want to put a strip of Scor-Tape along the top edge of the inside of the matchbook.
Then, you can peel the adhesive backing off and lay the glassine bag right on top of the adhesive, thus securing the bag in place.
Here's what it looks like all folded up with the button bag inside. All that's left to do is decorate the front however you see fit!! Fun, right? And you can also put any small treats in these bags....you don't have to use buttons. You could use small snippets of ribbon, rhinestones, brads, etc. But the thing with buttons is (especially when you buy Papertrey's buttons) you usually get anywhere from 50-150 buttons in each bag so it makes it SO easy and extremely cost effective at just $5 a bag to share a few of those button treasures with your crafty friends!
I used the button jar image from Studio Style for the front of my little matchbooks and created a frame around them by stamping the bracket/flourish image from the Vintage Labels stamp set, four times around my focal point. Goodness, but I love that bracket image! What a fantastic frame it makes! I also added a strip of scalloped card stock along the bottom flap of each matchbook as well as a threaded button in the coordinating color.
After making all of those adorable little matchbooks, I couldn't resist whipping up a card to match. I used many of the same elements from the matchbook, on my card. The ink on the kraft card stock is smokey shadow.....such a cool look.
Here's another sentiment from Studio Style that you haven't gotten a peek at yet. It just makes me smile! "Mojo problems got you down?" And the inside of the card says....
"Let's get together for some crafting!" :) Seriously, I think we've ALL had those days when no matter how much our hearts WANT to be getting crafty, we're just not 'feelin' the mojo!'
One more Studio Style card for you today.....this is just another to show you that you really can pair the Studio Style sentiments with lots of other stamp sets that you may already own (or will own soon after this release! Hee.). This card features images from the new Dot Spot stamp set.
I kept it nice and simple and then used then "Happy Birthday, Crafty Girl!" sentiment from Studio Style. This would be great with a gift card to a local craft store (or maybe Papertrey Ink! Ha!) tucked inside.
Lastly for today, here's another card featuring an embellie from my new Color Couture collection. This card is so simple but SO fun, don't you think? And I literally whipped this baby up in minutes!
I stamped the background (from the new Background Basics: Tin Types) in dark chocolate ink on kraft card stock. I added some glitter to the "I just LOVE YOU" embellie and added one of the trim strips from Color Couture as well. All that was left to finish it off was a few rhinestones. Cute AND quick.....we all need "cute and quick" at one time or another, right? :)
Before I go, I want to share one more tip with you as promised in my video yesterday. The Color Couture embellies were designed to be stored in the Color Couture Inspiration Binder until you're ready to use them. However, once you start cutting some of the embellies apart, you may end up with a few odds and ends that you haven't used yet, but you need to store somewhere.
I've found that the large glassine bags are a perfect fit in the binder if you punch holes in them. I have 3 glassine bags in my binder, one for each color collection, and I can store any loose embellies or trims in the bags until I'm ready to use them. With this storage system in place, you can also go ahead and cut out your embellies ahead of time on a day when you're not feeling quite so much creative mojo. That way, when you ARE feeling creative, those embellies will be ready to roll!
The Color Couture Inspiration Binder will sell for $9 and the 27-page insert collection is just $12!
That's it for today!
Nichole is showcasing both Luck of the Irish and Take Three: Spring today and Melissa Phillips and Alli Miles will also have projects to show you featuring Take Three: Spring. You'll also want to pop back in to see Heather Nichols, Melissa Bickford and Niki Estes to get a few more sneak peeks at their new sets and Kim Hughes will have another Click Simple template project to share with you.
Tonight is the official Release Party in the Papertrey forum beginning at 10pm EST. I'll be there along with several of the other Design Team members and we'd love to get the chance to chat with you! Pop over and join in the fun!
One last thing before I go......I just want to take a minute to wish you each a VERY Happy Valentine's Day!! It's a day to celebrate love. It doesn't have to be "romantic love", but just love in general, so I hope that you'll take a minute to celebrate. Let a special someone in your life know how much they mean to you! And know how important YOU are to me! Thank you for visiting me each day. Thank you for sharing in all of this Papertrey release time excitement with me. Thank you for cheering me (and the Raspberry Suite line) on. Know that I'm wishing you a day filled with love. I hope your day is dreamy and maybe even a little lovey dovey! ;)
