Hi there!! It's time again for this month's Senior Design Team Challenge at Papertrey and this month, Nichole has asked us to create a project highlighting Papertrey's awesome new dies and impression plates. Since I can't stop using both, this was easy!! Haha. In fact, on this card, I used 5 different dies and the new Picnic Plaid impression plate!
First up, let's talk about the background.
I first ran my piece of rustic cream card stock thru my Big Shot with the Picnic Plaid impression plate to get that great plaid background. Then, I went back in with a ruler and 3 Copic markers to create stripes. I lined the ruler up with 3 different lines from the plaid, over and over again alternating marker colors as I went along to create the fun striped layer on my background.
Can you see how pretty the two layers look when you see them both together...the textured plaid and the colored stripes?
Next for my flower........sigh. I love this flower and can't wait to make more. I took the Beautiful Blooms II die collection #3 and die cut 3 of each size flower -- 9 flowers total -- from vintage book print. I inked the edges of each flower with Vintage Touch tea dye ink. Then, I attached all 9 layers with a small brad....this is SUCH an easy way to attach multiple layers together. After that, I took a hibiscus burst button and adhered it right over the top of the brad with a foam dimensional and the pulled the edges of each flower petal forward a bit, wrapping them slightly around the button.
Another thing to note is the leaves on this card. Those leaves are from my new Delightful Dahlia die collection! Did you know that you can use those leaf dies (and the leaf stamps from the Delightful Dahlia stamp set) to create leaves for ALL KINDS of flower embellishments?! The leaves don't just have to be used in conjunction with the Dahlia stamp in particular. I love how great they work on this card with my vintage flower. I stamped the leaf image (from Delightful Dahlia) using hibiscus burst ink on sweet blush card stock. I also added a border along the bottom of the card from the same sweet blush card stock, that I die cut with the small scalloped border die.
One last thing I thought I'd show you is how I'm currently storing my dies and impression plates. I have this basket that I keep close to my Big Shot in the studio. It's the perfect size for me to keep adding lots of impression plates and bigger dies to, in a sort of "file" fashion. Plus, I'm using one of Papertrey's 8oz. Square Clear Top Tins to "file" my smaller dies in. This tin is the perfect size to hold all of the smaller dies and there is LOTS of room to add more dies as my collection grows, by keeping them standing up in the tin.
So...that's all I've got for you today. Are you starting to get the itch to do a little die cutting of your own? There's lots more inspiration to be soaked up today....pop over to Nichole Heady's blog to see her post and don't miss out on each of the other Sr. design team members' blogs as well!
and our distinguished guest designer, Kelly Purkey, is playing along too!
Hope you're having a fabulous week!! I'll chat with you again soon.
