Hello there!! I'm so glad you've popped in today because I can't wait to introduce you to Background Basics: Woodgrain, the newest stamp set in my Raspberry Suite line-up. The stamp set will be available for $15 beginning on April 15 at Papertrey Ink.
Woodgrain patterns are everywhere these days and I've been so excited about bringing you an extremely versatile woodgrain stamp set. I designed this set about a year ago so waiting to share it with you has been hard, but sooooo worth it, now that it's here and I can share with you just how fun and versatile it is!
The thing with so many woodgrain stamps out there right now, is that most of them might cover your entire card front but the pattern is always the same every time. The beauty of Background Basics: Woodgrain is that it contains 3 background building stamps that are all totally interchangeable. You can stamp them as is, flip them upside down, mix and match them or use them alone thus giving you sooooo many more options when building woodgrain patterns. This way, you can customize your patterns without having them always be the exact same look! More bang for your buck is a good thing, I always say!
Here's a video I put together, to show you just how easy it is to use Background Basics: Woodgrain.....
So now that you've seen how this stamp set works, let me tell you about the cards I've got to share with you today. On this first one, you can see that I stamped a woodgrain pattern all over the front of my card in Hawaiian Shores ink on Hawaiian Shores card stock. I inked up the edges of the card base with some vintage touch tea dye ink in chai. Next, I layered some rustic cream card stock on the front, that I'd stamped with Polka Dot Basics II in true black ink. The sentiment is from another new stamp set for this release.....keep an eye out on Nichole's blog for more info about that later in the week! ;)
By now, have you spied a few other new products on this card??
I used a brand new die to cut out that awesome frame! Pop over to Nichole's blog today, for more info about that! Aaaaaand, did you notice the woodgrain texture on that frame???? That is another new product for this release! It's a Woodgrain Impression Plate that I designed and it is AMAZING to work with! I'll have lots more info about that for you in the coming days, as well as some photos of the impression plate itself, so stay tuned for that. You might not be able to tell in the photo, but after I cut out the frame shape with the die, I then ran it thru my Big Shot with the Woodgrain Impression Plate and THEN, I took my Vintage Touch Tea Dye ink pad in chai and gently rubbed it over the surface of the frame. This created a great color variation in the woodgrain because the ink stays on the top part of the card stock, leaving the impressed parts of the card stock in the original kraft color.
I used the Beautiful Blooms II #1 dies to cut out the book print and felt flowers and added some pure poppy buttons to finish off the look.
Next up is a card that gives you a great look at Background Basics: Woodgrain in action! I LOVE how it looks when stamped on kraft card stock with VersaMark ink. So soft and subtle and pretty! And notice that I used the same frame shaped die from the previous card on this card, and I also incorporated the stamp that the die coordinates with!! The dotted frame stamp is from the new For The Graduate set that Nichole designed and she's got all the info about this set on her blog today so be sure to check that out. The great thing about this particular image is that the center of the image (which you can check out on Nichole's blog) coordinates with a 1 3/4" circle punch. So instead of making a graduate card, I covered the center with a bit more woodgrain and made a lovey card instead! I punched a circle out of pure poppy card stock and stamped it with Background Basics: Woodgrain in pure poppy ink. I added the sentiment (from Daily Designs Sentiments) and some buttons and layered them on a scalloped circle that I punched out with a super jumbo scalloped circle punch. Along the bottom of the card, I added a scalloped border that I die cut using the medium scalloped border die.
Such a cute and vintage-y card, don't you think? And next up is one that's a bit more elegant. I started with another woodgrain pattern on a kraft card base. This time, I paired the woodgrain up with my Delightful Dahlia stamp set. I just LOVE how pretty this turned out!
I cut out the flower and leaves with the Delightful Dahlia dies and stamped the Delightful Dahlia flower on plum pudding card stock with Palette Noir ink and then used the T1 and V06 Copics to add some shading and dimension to the flower. I also stamped the leaves on kraft card stock and added a bit of shading to them with just the T1 marker. The sentiment is also one to watch for on Nichole's blog this week. ;)
You might notice another new product on this card as well. See that dotted paper? That's from a patterned paper collection I designed for this release. It's called Dotty Biscotti (how fun is THAT?!) and it's a collection of dotted papers in popular Papertrey colors, all on a "kraft" colored background!! This paper is fun, fun, fun and talk about versatile!? You can use it on just about anything! And don't you love how you can take a "fun" paper and use it on an elegant card for a really classy look? I'll have lots more projects to share with you in the coming days using this handy patterned paper collection.
The other thing to note about this card is that I used that same frame shaped die from the first two cards, except that this time when I die cut the shape from the Dotty Biscotti paper, I used the negative space around the die cut instead of the die cut itself. It made the perfect sized frame for my Dahlia when I layered it on some vintage cream card stock. I love little discoveries like that.
So, that's all I've got for you today......all kinds of new goodies to look forward to, right? Background Basics: Woodgrain stamp set, Woodgrain Impression Plate, AND Dotty Biscotti patterned paper collection! And I haven't even shown you what's coming in this month's Color Couture Download yet! Don't you just love Countdown week??? :)
And there are lots more stops for peeks at new goodies today as well as tons of inspiration to be found. Nichole Heady and Betsy Veldman are both showcasing the new For The Graduate stamp set today. Lisa Johnson, Heather Nichols and Becky Oehler will also have sneak peeks for you today, each featuring their own new stamp sets.
I'll be back here again tomorrow with lots more goodies to share with you. In the meantime, what do you think so far??? Were you thinking that woodgrain was only for "boy cards"? *wink!* Is there a product you saw today that you're especially excited about? I'd love to hear your thoughts!
Have a great day, Dearies, and I'll chat with you again tomorrow,
