Hello there and welcome! Today begins the countdown to the May product release at Papertrey Ink and I’m thrilled to introduce you to ALOHA, the newest stamp set in my Raspberry Suite line up! The Aloha stamp set is just $15 and features several island-themed images and sentiments inspired by the vacations that my hottie hubs and I have enjoyed in Hawaii. We’ve been twice now and have visited 4 of the different islands and I was so inspired by the colors, the flowers and the Aloha spirit. :) For the next 5 days, I’ll have sneak peek projects to share with you featuring my Aloha stamp set as well as the next installment of Color Couture Embellies -- all of which will be available for purchase at Papertrey Ink beginning on May 15! It’s going to be a fun, fun, fun week so let’s get started with today’s cards, shall we?
First up is a card that features 2 of the main images from Aloha. You’ve already seen the sneak peek of the surf board image a few days ago here at the blog-o but here it is featured on a card along with the adorable post card image also from Aloha. The post card is sized to perfectly accommodate several of the sentiments from the set and for this one, I chose the sentiment, “Mahalo” which is the Hawaiian word for “thank you”. I reiterated that sentiment with a “thank you” sentiment from another new set from this month’s release. (Stay tuned to Nichole’s blog for more info about that set!)
I colored the surf board image with Copic markers and cut it out so that I could layer it over the post card. You’re also getting a peek at some new patterned paper on this card. (Stay tuned to Nichole’s blog for info about that as well!) ;) I finished off the “thank you” sentiment detail with a bit of Hawaiian Shores saddle stitch ribbon and a button threaded with rustic jute button twine.
Next up is another card featuring the surf board image from Aloha and as you can see, it makes for a really fun birthday card for a guy. The “Surfer Dude” sentiment is from the Aloha stamp set as well. I stamped the image in Palette Noir ink, heat set it just a bit and then colored it with my Copic markers. I layered the image on a bit of Dotty Biscotti patterned paper in orange zest. The “Happy Birthday” sentiment is one from my Say It With Style stamp set. I stamped it in true black ink and added simple brown brads (by Making Memories) to the corners of the sentiment panel before adhering it to the card front with foam adhesive.
I love how summery and beachy and yet, still a bit masculine this card turned out. Perfect for any guy who’s young at heart!
This next card features the other main image from Aloha -- a beautiful line drawn image of a hibiscus flower and leaves.....perfect for stamping, paper piecing, coloring and more. The larger scale of the image makes it perfect for pulling together beautiful cards in a snap. The hibiscus flower is such a versatile floral image that it can be used for a wide variety of cards for many different occasions! I hope you’ll see this week as you get lots of glimpses at this new set, just how versatile this lovely flower can be......for use on everything from birthday to even sympathy cards. One of the best things about the pretty hibiscus image is that it can be paired with sentiments from the Aloha stamp set as well as many sentiment stamps you may already have in your stamping arsenal.
The colors I chose when coloring this hibiscus were inspired by a large hibiscus plant we actually saw while in Hawaii.....the plant had lots of large yellow blooms with beautiful coral-y red centers. I kept those flowers in mind while I colored this little beauty and then built my card around the colored flower. The card base is ripe avocado card stock. I also added strips of berry sorbet and kraft card stock on either end of the focal image as well as a strip of Dotty Biscotti patterned paper in lemon tart. The “Happy Birthday” sentiment is from Delightful Dahlia and the “Hula Girl” sentiment is from Aloha. I just love what a fun and girly birthday card this makes.....perfect for a real hula girl or perhaps just a dear friend who loves a tropical paradise and who just might be a bit of a hula girl at heart! :)
Ahhh.....next up, I’m so excited to give you your first peeks at the newest embellies in the Color Couture Embellies collection! Every third month, Papertrey releases a new collection of PRINTED embellies and May just happens to be a “print release” month. That means that this embellie collection is not a downloadable product, but rather, actual printed embellies and trim that you can cut out and use on projects quickly and easily!
There are 3 new volumes of embellies (3 different color combos) included in this collection. Each volume includes 4 pages of embellies and 1 page of coordinating trims. All are sold in one pack, along with 3 color dividers -- one for each color combo -- as well as inspiration pages featuring project photos, instructions and complete supply lists from Design Team members, to give you ideas of actual projects you can make yourself, using the Color Couture Embellies collection.....and you get ALL of that for just $12. The entire collection of embellies and inspiration pages have been designed to be stored in the handy dandy Color Couture Binder.
I have to tell you that this month’s Color Couture Embellie collection is FUN, FUN, FUN! The 3 color combos are summery and colorful and cheery and I have a feeling you’re gonna love ‘em! For today, I’ve made two cards to share with you, both featuring embellies from the Volume 4 collection. Since this Embellie collection contains Volumes 4, 5 & 6, I’ll be sharing projects with you this week that feature all 3 of those color combos so you'll get peeks at 'em all!!
This first card is so simple but oh-so-fun, don't you think?!! The strip of trim along the bottom of the card is one of the trims from the Color Couture Embellie collection. All I had to do was cut it off the trim sheet, add a little adhesive and adhere it to my card front. I stamped some leaves from Turning A New Leaf onto the card front using VersaMark ink. I stamped those leaves again in ripe avocado ink on stamper's select white card stock and cut out just a few of them to attach behind my flower. The flower layers are all from the Color Couture Embellie collection (Vol. 4) as well as the "hello" tag. I simply cut them out, adhered them all together with foam adhesive, incorporating the stamped leaves behind the flower and adhered them all to the card front with more foam adhesive! Seriously easy, but what a striking card! Color Couture Embellies give you the option of creating quick and easy cards when you're in a hurry or want to keep things simple, OR you can add them to much more involved cards when you want to kick things up a notch!
Lastly for today is one more card featuring embellies from the Color Couture Embellies collection (Vol. 4). I started out by stamping the background pattern from Background Basics: Diamonds in ripe avocado ink on the ripe avocado card base. Next, I punched out the "Just a note" circle embellie from the Color Couture Embellie collection and I cut out one of the leaves from the same collection. I adhered the leaf behind the scalloped circle, added a few buttons to accent the sentiment and adhered the entire "flower" to a die cut label. (Watch Nichole's blog for more info about that sweet little die in the coming days!)
You may also notice a fabulous felt border on this card. That's a delish new felt *wink* as well as another fun die being released this month!
That's all I've got for you today but I have lots and lots to show you in the next few days of the countdown! It's gonna be fun and I can't wait for you to see everything I've been working on! I'd love to hear your thoughts so far though! What do you think of Aloha?? How about the new Color Couture Embellies?
There's lots more inspiration to be found out there in Papertrey BlogLand today....you'll want to be sure and visit Nichole Heady to see peeks at an ADORABLE stamp set she designed! Betsy Veldman will have peeks at that same set today, so you won't want to miss that! AND, if you visit Lisa Johnson, Heather Nichols, Melissa Bickford, Alli Miles and Beth Silaika, they'll all have peeks at their newest stamp sets as well!
