Hello there, Dearies.....got a few fun things to share with you today. First up, let's chat about this cheery little happy birthday card! My birthday is tomorrow (Friday) and so I decided when making this card to include lots of things I love -- polka dots, Papertrey's felt and buttons, flowers, zig-zag stitching, bright colors and that adorable font combo!
The flowers were die cut from vintage cream felt using the Beautiful Blooms #2 dies. Each flower has 5 layers -- 2 of them are the smallest size die and the back 3 are the medium sized die. I also snipped in between each petal just a little so that the flowers would be able to fluff up a bit more. I just love fluffy flowers, don't you? As for the colors, I used berry sorbet, simply chartreuse and hawaiian shores card stock and buttons to match. The dots are from Polka Dot Basics II (I know you're not surprised there) and the sentiment is from Enjoy The Ride.
Since my birthday is tomorrow, my hottie hubs brought home these beauties for me yesterday and said, "Happy Birthday early". I love that man. I will be 35 tomorrow -- not sure how that happened exactly because in my head, I'd swear I'm still only about 25. Do you feel that way too? :)
Anyway, I think I've sort of unofficially started a couple of traditions on my birthday here at the blog-o, one being that I like to take a minute to count my blessings and I feel like if I list them out, it helps me to really SEE them and I also like to do a giveaway because......well.......gifts and birthdays just go hand in hand, don't they? Birthdays are way more fun with gifts! So....before we get to the gift part, here's just a *small* list of the things I'm thankful for as I turn 35.....
- my faith - without God in my life, I would surely be a mess.
- my husband - there is no one better for me than him. He loves me, he makes me laugh, he understands me (at least most of the time -- ha!), he encourages me, he's a decision maker and yet he doesn't make major decisions without my input or without thought for how it will affect me, he's a problem solver which I LOOOOVE - it means that when something is on the fritz or when something needs to be taken care of, he gets right on it rather than leaving it to get worse or whatever, he's so handsome and goodness I love to hear him laugh.....he's certainly not perfect -- none of us are -- but he's certainly perfect for me.
- my family - including a certain 2 year old niece who let me put her hair up in pigtails for the first time and OHHH was she cute and her 1 year old brother who is playful and I can't wait to hear him say my name for the first time.
- my job which I have already told you about this week - Being a designer is something I never would have thought possible 5 years ago and yet, God saw fit to allow me this tremendous blessing.....and being able to work from home? Well, that's just icing on the cake!
- my home - I love it here. In fact, now that I'm working from home, I really don't leave the house all that often (haha!) but I don't mind it one bit because we've worked hard over the years to make our home really feel like HOME to us.....it's cozy and warm and inviting and it's truly a haven.
- my sweet doggie boy - I think he's as glad that I'm working from home all day as I am. His life has certainly changed now that I'm home all day with him. His kennel time is almost non-existent these days. He's living in the lap of luxury sleeping all day, having a drink or a snack whenever he wants, having someone at his beck and call to take him outside whenever the mood strikes.....it's the life of Riley. (Hahaha....in case you're new here, his name really is Riley!) :)
- my dear friends - the real life ones who call me or see me at church or who live in my cul-de-sac or who send me an email just to say "hey". I'm thankful for each of them.
- my dear friends - the online variety. You know, the ones who I've never met or talked to in real life, but who probably know me at least as well as some of my real life friends because they come here to the blog-o and visit me each day. They know what's going on in my life from one day to the next and they care about the details of my life. "They" are YOU....I'm thankful for each of you. :)
- paper-crafting - it just makes me happy. Sometimes it keeps me awake at night thinking of different things I want to create (like last night) but ultimately, it's therapeutic, it's meaningful and I just feel better when I'm getting the chance to be crafty.
Soooo.........I'm sharing all of this birthday hoopla with you today rather than tomorrow because tomorrow I've got a SUPER fun post to share with you for the Papertrey Newsletter. It's filled with fun projects, COLOR, inspiration, etc.....I so hope you'll stop back by tomorrow for a visit so you can see what I've got cooked up for you!
And now, since we're having so much birthday fun here today, let's get on with the presents, shall we???
One randomly selected winner will receive one of each of these four stamp sets:
- Signature Greetings
- Aloha
- Say It With Style
- Polka Dot Basics II (because even though I didn't design this set, I use the pants off of it and I think everyone should have it!)
Thanks so much, Peeps! Have a GREAT day and I'll see you back here tomorrow!!
Smooches!
Contest ends Sunday, June 27 at 9pm CST. Only one comment per person, please.
