Hi there and welcome! I'm so glad you've popped in for Day 3 of the Papertrey Countdown! I've got lots of fun projects for you today featuring several of the new products that I designed for this release and all of those goodies will be available for purchase at Papertrey Ink beginning on July 15.
First up is a card with a bit of an interactive twist! Before I get to that though, notice that cute notebook paper background pattern? That's an image from my new It's Official stamp set, as well as the cute little "A+" image at the top of the card! You could use both of these stamps for oodles of teacher cards and projects as well as projects for kiddos! In this case though, I decided to make a little Congratulations card. (You'll see what I mean in a second!)
I used the new Library Pocket Die to create the little red pocket. The circle image with the word "Original" is another image from It's Official that I stamped and then punched out. Are you wondering what's inSIDE that little pocket??? :)
I die cut a piece of card stock using the new Mat Stack 3 Die and stamped it with the coordinating label image from Nichole Heady's new All Booked Up stamp set! How cute is that?! THEN, I stamped the "Congratulations" sentiment -- another from It's Official -- in the space on the label image! The circle part of the label shape was designed to coordinate with all of Papertrey's circle tag images that are 1.75" in diameter, however instead of adding a stamped image to the top of the label, I chose to punch out a scalloped circle from simply chartreuse card stock and then added a hawaiian shores felt flower that I die cut with the Beautiful Blooms II dies! Seriously, how fun is all of THAT?!
Next up is another fun card featuring more of the notebook paper image from It's Official as well as the "Congratulations" sentiment and more fun Bingo cards! I started out with a piece of downloadable patterned paper from the new Color Couture July Download that I then die cut using the Library Pocket Die. I am in LOVE with that polka dotted pocket!
I stamped the notebook paper image several times on raspberry fizz card stock with terracotta tile ink. I also tied a little terracotta tile topnotch twill knot around the pocket and the Bingo cards were stamped using orange zest and terracotta tile inks.
Now as for that fun little sentiment, I simply stamped the "Congratulations" from It's Official on rustic cream card stock with terracotta tile ink. Then, I added a little strip of orange zest card stock to the bottom that I die cut with the eyelet lace border die. As for that fun little bit at the top of the sentiment.......that's terracotta tile card stock that I die cut using the new Bookmark Die!! I simply cut off the top of the bookmark and adhered it behind the sentiment! What a fun and simple -- but cute -- little detail, don't you think? :)
On this card, I started out with a raspberry fizz card base and stamped the notebook paper image several times in versamark ink to create a soft and subtle background. Then, for the focal image, I wanted to create the look of old time-y stationary, so I stamped some flowers and leaves from Beautiful Blooms II and added the "I'm So Grateful For You" sentiment from my Signature Greetings set.
Lastly, I used another handy sentiment from It's Official -- "From the desk of:" and then I signed my name to finish off the tiny piece of "stationary".
Now I've got a fun bit of info for you about this month's Color Couture Download! If you love to make cards and you love office supplies, then have I got the card template for YOU! The templates included in this month's Color Couture Download are file folder-shaped cards!!! ACK! How fun is that?! And not only that, but these little file folders will coordinate so well with soooooo many of the office-y themed products from this release!!
Here's a peek at the Color Couture July Download cover -- so you can see what all comes in the download for just $5!
As you can see on the cover, you get 6 different downloadable patterned papers that you can print and use as many times as you like. You also get 3 inspiration pages with project photos and complete instructions from myself, Betsy Veldman and Melissa Phillips! AND, see those little white graphics along the bottom of the cover? Those are the file folder card templates that are included in this download as well as two little file folder tab templates. That's a lot of goodies for just $5!
Check out what I did with a file-folder card and a few of the stamps from It's Official!
Oh my Lordy bees......how much fun is this little card? I started off by printing the file folder template on simply chartreuse card stock and then cut it out and folded it. Then, I stitched a strip of 2009 Bitty Dot Basics patterned paper in hawaiian shores to the card.
Then, I die cut a piece of vintage cream card stock using the new Spiral Notebook Page Die and stamped some notebook paper lines and all of the sentiments. The "Notes:" sentiment is from It's Official. The "Wish Big" is from Big & Bold Wishes and the "Happy Birthday" is from Enjoy The Ride. I added a few threaded hawaiian shores buttons to the bottom of the "note". Then I rumpled up the top edge to make it look a bit more realistic and "paper clipped" it to the front of the file folder, adding a bit of foam adhesive under the bottom half of the note.
This cute little "To Be Filed" image is another from It's Official and works perfectly with this little file folder, don't you think? :) I also added a little flower that I created using a bit of vintage book print and the Beautiful Blooms II dies. The tiny flower in the center is a Color Couture Embellie from the Vol. 4 collection.
As I mentioned earlier, there are also templates for file folder tabs included in the Color Couture July Download and here is one of them in action on the "back flap" of the card. I stamped the "From the desk of:" sentiment from It's Official and signed my name. Such a fun little personal touch.
I thought I'd show you a quick and easy way to trim up these little tabs. To start out, you can simply trim around all of the straight edges of the tab with your paper trimmer.
Next up, score along the dotted line and fold.
This is what the tab will look like at this point. Go ahead and fold it "inside out" so that the lines are on the outside of the tab.
Now you can easily cut off each corner of the tab! This will ensure that the front and back sides of your tab are even.
You won't want to leave those score lines on the outside though, so now you can fold it back "right side out".
And here is the finished tab. AND, you could use these tabs on a million other projects besides just the file folder cards!
That's it for me today, but Alli Miles will have another look at her newest set PLUS it's Group Post day for the Papertrey Design team so that means that each of the other girls on the team have projects for you so you'll want to be sure and pay 'em all a visit! I've also got a second post for you today titled "All Booked Up" so if you missed it, be sure and scroll on back!
Thanks so much for dropping by today. I hope to see you back here tomorrow where I've got lots more projects to share with you using my new It's Official Stamp set!
Take care and we'll chat soon!
