Hi-ya! Welcome back to day 4 of the Papertrey Countdown! I'm so excited about today's projects! Let's get right to today's first card, shall we?
There are just an abundance of fun things to tell you about on this first card! First up, let's talk about that ribbon! Another of the larger images from It's Official that you haven't gotten a peek at yet is a large ruler image. There is so much you can do with this single image and I've got several fun applications to share with you today.....the first of which is creating your own "tape measure" inspired ribbon! Here's how....
I stamped the ruler image repeatedly on Harvest Gold classic grosgrain ribbon using true black ink. As you can see, the numbers on the image only go up to 4 but by stamping the image repeatedly, we're able to achieve the look of a tape measure. Don't worry too much about the fact that the numbers don't keep increasing because once you tie the ribbon around your project, you'll still get the look of a tape measure which is what we're going for.
As you can see, the ruler image is slightly wider than the strip of grosgrain ribbon which is PERFECT for making your own tape measure ribbon. Simply line up the top of the numbers along the top edge of the ribbon and stamp. Then, when you're ready to stamp again, stamp the line on the left edge of the stamp directly onto the line on the right edge of the image you've already stamped. It was very easy to use those lines as a guide to get a perfectly straight stamped image every time!
One note of caution....allow the ink to dry completely before tying the ribbon so you don't smear the ink. *wink*
Ack......don't you just LOVE how it looks once it's tied up?! SO cute and the fun part is that you could create tape measure ribbon on any color of ribbon you'd like! Who wouldn't love green tape measure ribbon......or even pink?! :) And how cute would tape measure ribbon be on sewing and quilting themed projects?
As for the focal image on my card, I used the new Mat Stack 3 Die to die cut a piece of stamper's select white card stock and then I stamped the coordinating label image from All Booked Up in berry sorbet ink. I added the "Just a note" sentiment from It's Official. Next, I stamped the circle tag image from 2009 Autumn Tags on kraft card stock with dark chocolate ink, punched it out using a 1 3/4" circle punch and adhered it to the label shape with foam adhesive. Then, I stamped the "Original" image from It's Official in berry sorbet ink on white card stock, punched it out with a 1" circle punch and adhered it to the center of the tag with more foam adhesive.
And what about those FUN patterned papers in the background??? Those are both patterns from my new It's Official patterned paper collection! Here's a peek at the entire collection......
HOW much fun is that paper, I ask you?? There are circles and tickets and rulers and paper clips and a grid pattern and even a page of "phone message" notes! Are your wheels turning with ways that you could use these papers yourself?
Another way you can use the ruler image from It's Official is to create ruler embellishments like I've done here. I paired the ruler with the Bingo card and the Admit One ticket (all from It's Official) to create a fun collage of images! The background papers on this card are all from the 2009 Bitty Dot Basics collection.
One other little tidbit to note is that the small star image from It's Official is the perfect size to stamp directly on the Bingo card to highlight any of the numbers for a fun little accent!
The ruler image is so versatile that you could also use it to stamp your own ruler backgrounds, or you can use it like I did here, to create a fun little trim strip. I stamped the ruler on stamper's select white card stock with Hawaiian Shores ink.
As for the patterned paper on this card, that is one of the papers from this month's Color Couture Download. This particular paper coordinates with the Vol. 4 Color Couture Embellies. For my card, I paired it with solid colors of card stock in Hawaiian Shores, New Leaf and Spring Moss.
The label was die cut from new leaf card stock using the Fillable Frames #4 Die (still a fave of mine) and then I stamped the coordinating label image from the Fillable Frames #4 stamp set in versamark ink. The "I Love you so much" sentiment is one from Signature Greetings that was stamped in new leaf ink.
Lastly for today, I thought I'd give you another peek at one of the papers from the Color Couture July Download. This paper also coordinates with the Vol. 4 Color Couture Embellies. I started out with a ripe avocado card base and ran it thru my Big Shot with my new Admit One Impression Plate. I LOOOVE the detail that this impression plate adds to any project!
Across the bottom of the card, I stitched a bit of Harvest Gold felt that was die cut with my new XL Rick Rack die.
For the focal image, I die cut a piece of the green dotty patterned paper (from the Color Couture July Download) with the Mat Stack 3 Die. Don't you just LOVE how fun that is?! I also die cut a bit of Harvest Gold felt with the butterfly die and stitched a new leaf button to the butterfly before adhering it to the label shape. The "Just a note" sentiment is from It's Official.
Whew.....how's that for a post full of fun It's Official projects?! What do you think of what you've seen so far? Do you have a favorite image from the It's Official stamp set or another new product that you're especially excited about? Feel free to leave a comment and let me know. You know how much I love hearing from you!
I'll be back tomorrow with one more day of It's Official inspiration! I've saved one of my FAVORITE images from the set for the last day of the Countdown......it's gonna be a VERY fun post! ;) I hope you'll join me! Until then, be sure to pop over to see what Nichole Heady and Mish Wooderson have to share with you. Heather Nichols, Niki Estes and Alli Miles have all got some more peeks for you at their new stamp sets as well.
Take care, Sweets!
