Hello, Lovelies..... :)
Back today for Day 2 of the Papertrey Countdown! Today, I've got a couple more fun cards to show you that not only use embellies from the Color Couture Vol. 8 collection, but also a few more fun items coming out this month at Papertrey. All of the new goodies you'll see this week will be available for purchase beginning on August 15 at Papertrey Ink.
First up is an elegant little number. I started out by creating the pretty background pattern on the card base. Here's how....
Notice the grid pattern that's been impressed into the kraft card stock? That's a new impression plate -- Nichole will have more info for you about that later this week! A really fun discovery I made while working on this card is that there's a little diamond-shaped flourish image in Tiffany Pastor's new Embellishments stamp set that fits perfectly when stamped in each little box of the impressed grid pattern! I simply stamped the image inside each box using VersaMark ink, alternating the image upside-down and right-side-up on each row. Such a pretty little background pattern, don't you think?
For the focal image, I cut out the "Hello, Lovely" embellie from the Color Couture Vol. 8 collection and adhered it to a piece of aqua mist card stock that I die cut using the new Mat Stack 4 die (watch Nichole's blog for more about that too!). I may as well warn you right now that I can't stop using the Mat Stack 4 die! It's such a perfect shape and size!
And are you wondering how I created those little dark chocolate pieces??? You may have seen on Alli Miles blog yesterday that she's got a new stamp set coming out called Gobble, Gobble. She's also got a coordinating die coming out that allows you to cut out the shape of a turkey and his feathers. I used the "feathers" portion of the die to cut out these little fans to tuck in behind the Mat Stack 4 layer. Before I did though, I stamped a pretty little flourish on each one, from the new Embellishments set, which coordinates perfectly with the background pattern I created!
Here's a peek at the Color Couture Vol. 8 embellies. :)
Ahhh.......one more fun and flirty little number for you. Notice the Mat Stack 4 shape again?? Told you I can't seem to stop using it! That is actually a rectangle shaped embellie from the Color Couture collection, however instead of cutting it out as a rectangle, I die cut the embellie using the Mat Stack 4 die. LOVE! Just think of all the different dies you can use to cut out completely new shapes from the embellies!
I also hand cut a yellow flower from the Color Couture embellies and added it to the sentiment panel with a hawaiian shores button in the center. The entire focal image is layered on a piece of kraft card stock, stitched with a brown border. The scalloped layers on the bottom of the card were die cut with the medium scalloped border die. You're going to laugh, but those layers were actually inspired by this photo from the Savory Sweet Life blog....
Heeeeeee.......just goes to show you, inspiration can truly be found everywhere! Even in a cake stand full of oreo cookies! :)
Hopefully you've been a bit inspired by today's projects. I'll be back again tomorrow with two posts for you -- double the fun! Until then, be sure to bop around and visit Nichole Heady and Heather Nichols who are both showcasing Heather's newest stamp sets. Alli Miles, Beth Silaika and Tiffany Pastor also have more peeks at their new sets!
Have a goodie! I'll see you tomorrow!
