Hello there!! This is my second post for today, so be sure to scroll down to see more Color Couture sneakie peeks in my Day 3 post!
So today is Group Post day which means that Nichole has challenged the entire Design Team to create a fun treat project and a card, all using the new Tiny Treats: Halloween stamp set. For my project, I've created some super cute little "paper grocery bags" to package candy corn or other treats in.
There are so many things to love about fall, right? .....the colorful leaves, the crisp, frosty chill in the air, and candy corn making it's yearly appearance on grocery store shelves! Ha! I'm excited to show you how simple it is to create these little treat bags using some of Papertrey's coffee bags -- and the best part is, these goodies aren't just for kids! Grown-ups will love receiving these little gems as a special fall and/or Halloween treat!
To start, I pulled out some of Papertrey's small kraft coffee bags. I cut the top off of the bag, about 2 1/2" down from the top, using pinking shears.
What's left is what looks like a mini grocery bag! ACK! How cute is that?!
Next up, I pulled out my pad of It's Official patterned papers. Below, is a look at one of the patterns in the collection.....it looks like little phone messages from an office. :)
I cut some of the phone messages apart, cutting right along the dotted lines.
Then, I stamped a flourish from the new Embellishments stamp set on each phone message and paper-clipped them to each little treat bag.
I also stamped the label image from Tiny Treats: Halloween on orange zest card stock and punched out the circle portion of the image with a 1 3/4" circle punch. I then stamped the little candy corn image from the set as well as the "happy halloween" sentiment and accented the candy corn with a bit of T1 copic marker. I layered the orange tag on a punched scalloped circle of rustic cream card stock and also tucked that under the paper clip on each bag.
Lastly, I used one of the new leaf dies out this month to die cut a leaf from dark chocolate card stock and then stamped each with a coordinating stamp. (keep an eye out on Nichole's blog later this week for more details about that!) A leaf also got tucked into the paper clipped cluster on each bag. How cute are those treat bags?? You could easily make these for kids, but I'm betting there are quite a few grown-ups out there who would love to receive a teensy treat like this! Perhaps some moms in your 'moms group' or maybe school teachers or even some coworkers at the office? Plus, these little coffee bags are lined so you could fill them with candy corn or any other type of treat that your little heart desires!
So now, on to the card I created to coordinate with my little treats. Remember the tops that I cut off of each coffee bag?
I decided to use one of those tops to create a little pocket for the front of my card. To do that, I cut off the closure strip at the top of the bag and set that aside.
I then stamped a flourish image from Embellishments on the "bag" with versamark ink and then I stitched around 3 sides of the bag with brown thread, creating the pocket. I love that decorative edge along the bottom that I was able to achieve just by using the pinking shears to cut the bag apart earlier! It's little details like that, that are mirrored on both the card and the bags, helping to tie everything together.
As you can see when I remove the tag, there's a little tab cut-out in the top of the pocket -- that is how the bags come. So, when I created the little pocket insert, I made sure to put foam adhesive on the back of the little orange tag, only on the upper portion of the tag so that it slides down nicely, tucking right into that little cut-out, leaving the orange tag portion hanging in front of the pocket while the brown label shape is tucked inside the pocket.
You can also see that I added another die cut and stamped leaf to the front of the pocket.....another detail I wanted to incorporate from the treat bags.
And did you notice the pattern on the simply chartreuse card base? I used my Woodgrain Impression Plate to create that great texture and I love the "woodsy-ness" it added to my fall-ish card. :)
The little sentiment tag was layered on a piece of dark chocolate card stock that I die cut using the Mat Stack 4 die and then stamped with the coordinating label image from Tiny Treats: Halloween. I punched a hole in one end of the tag and ran a piece of orange zest topnotch twill ribbon thru the hole and then tied the ribbon with a teensy piece of chocolate baker's twine.
The best part about this little sentiment tag is that the recipient could easily re-use this as a gift tag on another gift OR it could be used as a seasonal little bookmark! Handy!
Well, I hope you've enjoyed my Tiny Treats: Halloween projects today! Be sure to scroll down to see my new Color Couture projects for today too and don't miss out on all of the other design team projects! All of the girls have goodies to share with you!
