Happy Saturday, Peeps!
If you've been hangin' around here for very long, you know that I've got 4 younger siblings -- 3 sisters and 1 brother. The middle child of all 5 of us, is my sister Grace and she's married to Chris. They're also known as Gracie & Chris-o. :)
Thursday was their 5th wedding anniversary so my sweet sister asked if I'd come out and do her hair and make-up for their big night out, and then play photographer for them for a little anniversary photo shoot. Keep in mind that I'm neither professional stylist OR photographer -- far from it, actually! -- but of course, I was thrilled to help out.
On their wedding day, their photographer followed them downtown to Union Station for pictures before they headed off to dinner, so that's what we did too. We attempted to recreate a few of the same shots their wedding photographer got 5 years ago so she found a cute little white dress and he wore a suit with a turquoise tie just like 5 years ago and off we went.
The above shot is one similar to 5 years ago, except that her dress was much fancier the first time around *wink* and it was dark out......and her foot wasn't popped up in the air like this. But honestly, don't you think the foot pop is really part of what makes this photo so adorable???
Seriously, aren't they cute? It's not just me, right?
This is inside Union Station. It's SUCH a gorgeous building, inside and out. Over in the bottom left corner there, is what is now a restaurant. But back when the building was first built yeeeeeears ago (you know, when everyone rode the train when they traveled) that was actually where the ticket windows were located. It was still round in shape like the restaurant, but all the way around were ticket windows.
I'm not sure what ever happened to all of those ticket windows when they tore them out years ago, but back when we were dating, I told Bart that if he ever wondered what to get me for a gift, one of those ticket windows would do nicely. *wink* They were beautiful old ticket windows.
That's Gracie and Chris there in the foreground. Does that give you an idea of how big Union Station is? :) That's the Grand Hall back behind them. Just imagine rows and rows of brown benches on either side of the hall.....that's what it was like way back when. You'd sit in the Grand Hall to wait for your train, and then there are lots of doorways off the Grand Hall and you'd go out one of those doorways to board your train. Ahhh.....so romantic, the train. Don't you think?
My FAVORITE thing about Union Station is without a doubt, the clock that is hanging above Gracie and Chris in the above photo. It may not look like it, but that clock is actually SIX FEET IN DIAMETER! Back in the day, the thing to do was to tell your loved one that you'd "meet them under the clock". I wonder how many smooches have happened under that clock over the years. Goodness, Bartley and I have certainly added a few of our own smooches to that tally. :)
I LOVE this photo of Chris & Gracie. Him with his big smile and squinty eyes (that the whole family teases him about -- we love Chris-o!) and her, laughing as she tries to pucker up for the photo, one of her dimples blazing! She has the BEST dimples ever and I'm not now, nor have I ever been the least bit jealous of those dimples. Ok, well maybe just a little jealous. :)
I love my sister and her hubs and I'm so glad I got to play a little part in their special day. Happy late anniversary, little sister. I love you.
As for the rest of you Dearies, I hope you're having a fun weekend. We're cleaning the house because as you can imagine, not a lot of cleaning happens around here during Countdown Week! Ha. We're having a cookout/football watch party Sunday afternoon for the guys on Bart's football crew and their wives. I'm sure it'll be a fun day! I'll be back tomorrow with a new card project for you so I hope to see you then.
Enjoy your weekend, whatever you do!
much love,
