Hello there!! I'm so glad you've popped in today! It's day 2 of the Papertrey Countdown and I've got all kinds of fun projects to share with you today. All of the new goodies you'll get peeks at today will be available for purchase at Papertrey Ink beginning on Oct. 15.
First up is a fun card with quite a few new goodies on it. I used the new On Ice Die and On Ice stamp set to create a little "pair" of ice skates, by cutting off the sock portion of the die cut. I just love how this turned out!
I used the new victorian lace border die to add a pretty trim to the card. I also created my own texty patterned paper by mounting 3 sentiment stamps from On Ice ("Frosty Fun", "Let it snow" & "Brrrr!") onto one acrylic block and stamping them repeatedly. Such an easy way to add some pattern as well as your sentiment all at once!
You can see that I stamped more of the little pom poms, cut them out and adhered them to the toes of the skates. SO. MUCH. FUN.
Another really fun little element to On Ice, is that one of the sock images has a damask pattern on it that coordinates with the Damask Designs stamp set! How fun is that?! You can create coordinated damask cards to your little heart's content. Plus, don't you kind of want a real pair of socks like those?? Haha....I totally do!
I stamped the skate and damask sock image, stamped the pom poms directly on the die cut, colored in the blade with a Copic marker and layered the whole thing on a bit of pure poppy card stock that I die cut using the mat stack 4 die. The "Let it snow" sentiment is one that you've already gotten a glimpse of from On Ice.
Now, I've got another bit of exciting news for you.....you may have seen my new Vintage Ornaments Die Collection on Nichole's blog yesterday. So many of you have been asking for these and I'm thrilled to have been able to design them! If you've already got the Vintage Ornaments and Vintage Ornaments Additions stamp sets, then these will be the perfect addition to your collection. And if you held off on buying the stamp sets because you were hoping for dies to be released, you don't have to wait any longer! *wink*
You won't believe how EASY these dies make creating your own little ornaments, whether for embellishments for your cards and projects or even for cute little gift tags! Just look....
Now I have a bit of a confession to make. We have quite a few family members that we exchange gifts with at Christmas time so when it comes to wrapping all of those gifts, I like to decorate the packages and make them really pretty. However, when it's time to put a gift tag on them, I often resort to those self-adhesive peel-and-stick varieties of labels from Target or the like, in an effort to save time. I buy them on clearance at the end of the season and save them for the next year and rarely do they actually color coordinate with the pretty gifts I've wrapped. So most of the time, I stick the label on the bottom of the gift so at least we know who's it is, but it can't clash with the colors of my gift wrapping.
I think all of that is about to change though! As you can see in the photo above, you can create your own self-adhesive gift tags in a SNAP by die cutting these cute little ornaments and adding a bit of scor-tape to the back. All that is left is to stamp a "to: from:" sentiment on the front. This one is from the new Fillable Frames #9 stamp set. By running all 3 ornament dies thru the Big Shot with one piece of card stock, you can cut 3 tags out at once. I whipped these little puppies up in just 2 or 3 minutes, so if quick and easy is all you've got time for this holiday season, you can still have adorable hand-made gift tags to color coordinate with your gift packaging!
Ooooooor, if kickin' it up a notch is more your speed, then by all means, you can use the Vintage Ornaments Dies to create some super cute, custom gift tags that your recipients are sure to love! Just die cut some goodies, pile on the layers and tie the tag on your gift!
For this sweet little tag, I die cut some kraft card stock using the new tag sale #2 die, as well as an ornament from hawaiian shores card stock and a cute little circle doily shape from vintage cream card stock.
I added a bit of Heather's new distressed dots patterned paper and a strip of pure poppy card stock. I stamped a decorative stripes image from Vintage Ornaments Additions on the ornament as well as the "Deck the halls!" sentiment from Vintage Ornaments. The "to:/from:" stamp is another from Fillable Frames #9. All that was left was to add a bit of zig zag stitching with my sewing machine as well as some vintage touch tea dye ink. I tied the top of the ornament as well as the tag itself with a bit of chocolate baker's twine.
Don't you just love the idea of creating your own custom gift tags for Christmas this year? All of these dies make projects like this SO easy and if you get started now, you can have a handy little stack of gift tags ready to roll in time for those late night wrapping sessions coming up. :)
All righty, so lastly for today I have one more card for you. This one showcases more of the Distressed Dots patterned paper as well as the Vintage Ornaments dies and the other style of Doily Card Template from this month's Color Couture Download. I printed out the template, cut it out, cut the front portion of the card off and mounted it on a standard A2 card base of hawaiian shores card stock.
I used the same hole punch technique as I did on yesterday's Doily Card Template card, creating the look of a doily edge. I tied the ornaments with more chocolate baker's twine and then wrapped the twine up over the edge of the vintage cream card stock, securing the twine to the back before adhering the entire panel to the card base. The "Christmas Blessings" sentiment is one from my Signature Christmas stamp set. I love how well all of these elements can work together.
All right Crew, that's it for me today, but I hope you'll come back tomorrow for more On Ice and Color Couture Download sneak peeks! It's gonna be a fun day. ;)
Until then, be sure to visit Nichole Heady and Heather Nichols for today's countdown posts. Alli Miles will also have more peeks at her newest stamp set!
Thanks for stopping by!
Happy Monday! And happy Columbus Day if you're here in the US! :)
