For today, it's another Group Post day which means that the entire design team has projects to share with you and today, we're focusing on making quick and easy tags using the new 2010 Holiday Tags stamp set. This is a set of tags that several different designers contributed to and I'm thrilled to have two different tags of my own included in this set.
I started out creating a gift tag for a Christmas gift for my Grandma but once I started gathering my supplies for the tag, my wheels got to turning and before I knew it, I'd decided to whip up an entire collection of tags and it was super easy! I'm gonna show you how, but first, let's talk about this tag for my Grandma.
The base of the tag was created with the new tag sale #1 die and some kraft card stock. Then, I used the Fillable Frames #5 die to cut a bit of distressed dots patterned paper. Next, I used the limitless labels: 1.75" circle dies to cut some vintage cream and pure poppy card stock. I stamped the vintage cream card stock with one of the tag images that I designed.....this one says, "Merry Christmas to you".
On the back of all of the tags I created, I stamped the "To:" and "From:" stamps from the new Friendship Jar Holiday Fillers stamp set in dark chocolate ink. This way, when I'm ready to put the tags to use, all I have to do is add the appropriate names and I'm all set!
Now, why don't we talk about an easy design process you can use to put a whole bunch of tags together, shall we?
I started out by using the tag sale #1 and tag sale #2 dies to cut out 5 of each tag shape. By keeping the tags all the same color -- in this case, kraft -- I was able to put both tag dies on the Big Shot with one piece of kraft card stock and run them thru at the same time, thus cutting two tags at once. That made it super fast to get 10 tags cut out, with just 5 passes thru the big shot.
Next, I start pulling out little scraps of patterned papers and die cuts that I wanted to use. I wasn't worrying about adhering anything at this point......I just wanted to lay the pieces out, experimenting with different layouts. By laying the tags out like this before you stick anything down, you'll be able to use similar papers or die cut shapes, but easily change up the layouts because everything can easily be seen all at once.
Here, you can see that I added dies to the tags, to show which dies I wanted to use on what tags and even added stamps to the tags. This way, I made sure to get lots of variety on the tags, but because most of the stamps came from the same stamp set, it made it so easy to get different but coordinated looks.
Now......want a peek at the entire completed collection?
Good golly, Miss Molly.......don't those colors just make you smile? Happy, happy sigh. I seriously love photos like this -- with the entire matchy (but not) collection all laid out together!
Now, how about we break it down and talk tag details? :)
For the tag on the left, I layered on a bit of vintage book print die cut with the mat stack 4 die and stamped with the coordinating label shape from Everyday Treats. The "Very Merry" tag is the other one that I designed for the 2010 Holiday Tags stamp set. I stamped it in pure poppy ink and added a hawaiian shores layer behind it that was die cut with the one of the new limitless layers dies.
For the tag on the right, I started out with a bit of distressed dots patterned paper die cut with the Fillable Frames #5 die and stamped a sentiment from On Ice in true black ink. Then, I used the On Ice die and stamp set to add a cutie ice skate to the tag. The skate was stamped with dark chocolate ink and the sock and pom poms with hawaiian shores ink. I tied a bit of pure poppy baker's twine to all of the tags.
The tag on the left in this photo is the one I created for my Grandma that you saw above, using one of the stamps I designed for 2010 Holiday Tags.
For the tag on the right, I used a bit of pure poppy card stock to die cut a limitless layers doily that's peeking out from the back of the tag. I layered on a couple strips of patterned papers from the Distressed Stripes and Christmas Prints collections. The sentiment, stamped in dark chocolate ink, is one from the new Friendship Jar Holiday Fillers stamp set. I used the snowflake dies from the Peace Be Still die collection to cut out some vintage cream card stock and stamped them both with the same snowflake image from 2010 Holiday Tags. I love how the same stamp looks different when stamped on different snowflake shapes. I topped off the snowflakes with a couple of big, fatty red rhinestones by Kaiser Scrapbook.
For this little guy on the left, I kept things a bit simpler. I used the Fillable Frames #5 die again with more distressed dots patterned paper. Then, I stamped the "Let it Snow" tag from 2010 Holiday Tags on berry sorbet card stock in pure poppy ink and layered it on another die cut limitless layers tag. To finish this one off, I added a tiny little rhinestone to the snowflake.
For the tag on the right, I used the Christmas tree die to cut out some ripe avocado card stock and then stamped it with the dove tag from 2010 Holiday Tags. I layered the tree on a strip of distressed dots patterned paper and a skinny strip of pure poppy card stock. I didn't worry about making sure that the edges of the papers lined up exactly. I love the interest that is added with varying lengths of papers. To finish things off, I added some rhinestone clusters to the tree.
Ahhh.....the "gem" on the left (ha!) has some patterned paper from the Green Boutique collection as well as a strip of hawaiian shores card stock. To that strip, I added a row of light green rhinestones. The stars were cut out with the two smallest star dies from the Seeing Stars Die Collection using hawaiian shores and aqua mist card stock. I stamped the "Merry & Bright" sentiment from the new Merry Little Christmas stamp set on the large star using dark chocolate ink. I rounded things out with a couple of buttons -- one new leaf and one aqua mist.
For the tag on the right, I stamped the "Joy" from 2010 Holiday Tags on the bottom of the tag in dark chocolate ink. Then, I stamped the snowflake tag (also from 2010 Holiday Tags) in pure poppy ink on vintage cream card stock and layered that on a scalloped die cut (limitless layers die) of berry sorbet card stock. Red rhinestones finished this little beauty off.
For this tag on the left, I used another Fillable Frames #5 die cut of distressed dots paper. I stamped the "Merry Christmas" sentiment from 2010 Holiday Tags in true black ink on the dots. Then, I die cut some pure poppy card stock with one of my new Vintage Ornaments Dies and stamped it with an image from Vintage Ornaments. I added a red rhinestone to the center of the ornament to give it some bling.
For the tag on the left, I stamped the postmark stamp from 2010 Holiday Tags in dark chocolate ink on the top of the tag. I added a couple strips of pure poppy card stock and distressed dots patterned paper. Then, I used the limitless layers dies again to add a pretty simply chartreuse layer followed by a stamped holly tag from 2010 Holiday Tags, stamped in ripe avocado ink on vintage cream card stock. More red rhinestones finished this baby up.
Ahhhh.......are you in the mood to make some of your own gift tags yet??? :) There's absolutely no reason that you can't whip up some of the CUTEST gift tags in town for your gifts this year! You may already have some of these supplies on hand and with the addition of some of these new goodies, you will be amazed at how easy it is to put tags like these together. Plus, it's just so much fun! I actually called my bestie in the middle of making these tags, just to tell her how much fun I was having! Ha!
Ok, so before I go today, we have to have a couple of cards, right? :) First up, another On Ice card but I did this one a little backwards from what you've been seeing this week. I used the On Ice die, but instead of making the skate pop out from the front of the card, I die cut the patterned paper and mounted THAT on foam adhesive, stamping the skate and sock on the back layer -- the card base.
The "Snowy Greetings" is another sentiment from On Ice. The patterned paper is from the Green Boutique collection. I added another vintage cream scalloped layer across the top of the card and topped it with a hawaiian shores twill bow.
Can you see in this photo how the patterned paper is raised from the card base? I love how this looks! I then added the popped up pom poms to the skate's toe.
Annnnnnd.......we have to have one more Color Couture card, right?? :) This card showcases two more of the patterned papers from the October Download! I stamped the largest flourish from Fancy Flourishes on the dark chocolate card base with versamark ink. Then, I added the dotty paper layer and die cut the plaid patterned paper using the mat stack 1 die.
The "Sweet Cheeks" sentiment is one of the embellies from the Color Couture Vol. 9 collection -- I punched it out and layered it on a die cut (limitless layers die again) and finished things off with some harvest gold buttons and chocolate baker's twine.
All right, my dears......are you sooooo excited for this release? Have you made your wish list? Are you feeling inspired to get crafty?? I certainly hope so!
