Hello there, Peeps! Happy Sunday.
We kind of gauge things around here by what sports season it is, since my handsome husband refs high school football and then high school and small college basketball. The seasons run right into each other and boy, once basketball season is in full swing, my hubs will be one busy guy. But for now, we're wrapping up football season so last week, I went to one of Bartley's games and man, was it fun. I used to go to all of his games -- both football and basketball -- but then my design career started picking up and I was also still working a full-time day job at the time. So it got to where I needed those nights to stay home and get my design work done while he was reffing. Since it'd been quite awhile since I'd gone to a football game of his, I figured it was about time I showed you some pictures of him reffing football! Anyhooo......that's him on the right in the photo above. The game was just getting ready to start and I had my zoom lens out and managed to catch the guys looking my way, even though they hadn't seen where I (and another wife) were sitting yet. I love that I was able to get that shot!
He's the "referee" on his football crew which means he's always the one wearing the white hat. Technically the other guys on his crew are called the umpire, the linesman, the line judge and back judge. In football, the same guys work together on a crew every week and these guys have all been working together for several years so they have a lot of fun together......and they're pretty good at what they do, too. *wink*
"Touchdown!"
It's pretty much Bart's job to keep the game moving so he makes sure that there's not a lot of wasted time between the plays.
This particular game was one of the biggest games in the city last week. The stadium was packed and the fans were SUPER excited as both teams were undefeated. Because it was a big game, Bart wore a microphone to announce the penalties. I must say that I love hearing his voice over the loud speaker. :)
"First Down!" (Please know that I have no idea what most of these hand signals really mean. He's currently sitting across from me while I type and I'm gesturing each of these signals to him, mimicking what I see in the pictures, and he's telling me what they mean! LOL. Football is not a game that I've fully grasped, even after all these years of being married to a referee. I try though. I do try. However, in all fairness, Bart hasn't really perfected all the intricicies of paper-crafting yet either. Haha.)
Nice view, right? Heeeee. I love this shot......it looks totally posed. Haha. This was after halftime -- the guys had just come out of the locker room and on the field for the second half and they're waiting to get things started up again.
The whole crew together......such a great group of guys. It was SO much fun for me to go to this game and get to watch my hottie hubs doing something that he loves so much. I was beyond proud of him and can't wait to go to another game and cheer him on. Who says you have to cheer for one of the teams?! ;)
Wishing you a wonderful Sunday. We're heading out to a family birthday party this afternoon. I'll be back tomorrow with a fun crafty project for you!
