The holiday season is upon us and with it comes family gatherings and get-togethers with friends and loved ones. What better way to show your appreciation to the hostess or even your own guests, than with a sweet little gift, packaged up beautifully? These holiday hostess gifts are not only ideal for taking along for the hostess when you go to one of those gatherings, but they'd also be beautiful when placed on your dining room table......one at each place setting for the ladies in your family. Today, I'm so excited to show you these pretty and simple holiday hostess gifts that you can recreate with items you may already have mostly on hand! Each of these gift packets contains a "card" for you to write a little note to the recipient on and three Christmas gift tags all packaged in a pretty little sleeve. A thoughtful gift that's not too difficult to recreate.....you could even whip up a few in time for Thanksgiving!
I made a few of these little gift sets for some special ladies in my life and I can't wait to deliver them. It was fun to think about each one as I made their gifts.....thinking about which color would best suit each one.
This photo shows you the three little tags that I tucked into the back of each little sleeve as well as the sleeve & card combo.
For the sleeve itself, I used a large glassine bag and adhered a sheet of vintage book print (Treasure Island, in case you were wondering :) ) and then layered on some Distressed Dots patterned paper. Next up, I stamped the "A Gift for you" sentiment from Friendship Jar Holiday Fillers on a bit of vintage cream card stock that I die cut with the Fillable Frames #4 die. I cut off one end of the fillable frames die cut and adhered that little "tag" along the bottom edge of the dotty paper. I also created my own rick rack with a bit of pure poppy card stock and my rick rack die, and adhered that along the top of the patterned paper. Then, I tied a pure poppy classic grosgrain bow around the whole sleeve.
TIP: Wait to tie the bow until after you've got the "card" tucked inside the sleeve. It'll make it easier to tie the bow without smooshing the glassine bag.
I also added a paper doily as well as a bit of pure poppy felt that was die cut using one of the limitless layers dies. I topped that with some vintage book print that I die cut with the beautiful blooms II #3 dies. Those flower layers were stitched together with a pure poppy button and some baker's twine.
Here you can see the "sleeve" on the right and the "card" on the left. The card is a flat panel (it doesn't open up) and I wrote the note to the recipient on the back.
For the "card", I printed out one of the Color Couture Doily Card Templates (#1) from the October Download on kraft card stock, cut it out and punched holes with two different sized punches, along the top of the card to accent the doily pattern. Instead of scoring and folding the card in half, I chose to keep it full sized and "open". I adhered another sheet of book print to the front (what would be the "inside" of a folded card), covering up the printed score mark. Then I added more Distressed Dots paper, another doily, a fillable frames #4 layer, another limitless labels layer and a 1.75" circle punched and stamped with a tag image and sentiment from 2009 Autumn Tags. I kept all of these layers nice and flat so the card would slide into the sleeve easily.
Here you can see how the card slides right into the sleeve. By using similar products on both the card and the sleeve, it makes for a really coordinated look. All you have to do is change up the details a bit.
Here's the back side of the "card". Nice and simple.......and plenty of room for jotting a little note to the recipient.
I also kept the tags fairly flat so they wouldn't be too thick to slide in behind the card. I used the tag sale #1 die, more limitless layers dies and tag images from the 2010 Holiday Tags stamp set.
This photo shows you all of the pieces in the Simply Chartreuse ensemble I put together. It's just like the red group.....I just swapped out the red pieces for green! Easy peasy.
I hope you've been inspired today, to whip up a little gift for someone special this week, whether for a Thanksgiving gathering or "just because".
Thanks so much for stopping by today! Wishing you the happiest of Fridays, Friends!
much love,
