Hello there and happy Saturday to you. It's a fabulous day here. Yesterday, I went on a little jaunt around town, running errands and checking things off my to-do list and having a marvelous time of it. We've got 3 birthdays coming up on my side of the family....well, more than that really, but we'll be celebrating three of the men in our family at a big birthday party tomorrow so as I was getting their birthday gifts together, I was seeing all of the Christmas decorations in the stores and listening to Christmas music on the radio in the car and even drinking a yummo Starbucks nonfat toffee mocha latte from a cheery red Christmas cup. All of that combined with the delicious fall chill in the air got me so excited for Thanksgiving and Christmas. So excited to really make a dent in the Christmas shopping and planning. I'll have some fun projects in the coming days to share with you....my creative wheels have definitely been turning as I gear up for some crafty holiday projects here in the Raspberry Suite studio. :)
I thought I'd pop in today with a couple of book recommendations for you since it's the weekend and you might find yourself on the hunt for a good book, hence the title of this post -- Book Recs. (Not to be confused with "Book Wrecks" which would be an entirely different post! Hahaha.)
Embers of Love - by Tracie Peterson
Ok, I have to say that while this was a great book (as most Tracie Peterson books are), she sure left a lot of story lines dangling at the end of this one! Hahaha. It's genius, of course, because now I can't wait for book 2 in this "Striking a Match" series to come out, but goodness I wanted more of the stories to be wrapped up nice and tidy by the end of this book! Haha. Read it -- you'll see what I mean. And then you'll want book 2 really bad too! :)
Hannah Grace by Sharlene MacLaren
I really, really enjoyed this book. Such a good story! Set in Michigan in 1903, this book tells the story of Hannah Grace, the oldest of the three Kane sisters. It has action, adventure, bad guys to catch, a lost boy who needs a home at least until they find his real home, two people who shouldn't get married, two people who should get married, three sisters (which I can totally relate to, what with all the sisters I have).......it was just really good. AND, there are some other great qualities about this book that are worth mentioning as well.....
- It's the first in a series of 3 books! YAY! That means more of the story to come when this one's done!
- Each book only retails for $9.99 instead of the standard $14 or $15 these days, PLUS if you buy them on amazon or with coupons, you can get them even cheaper! I think I got mine for about $7 each with coupons at our local Christian bookstore. I love a great deal on a good book!
- The books are kind of thick which means, even more of the story to read. Yay! You can totally prolong that sad feeling you'll get when the book's over, because these books are a bit thicker! Haha. I'm always lookin' out for ya.
- The covers are just so preeeeetty. (Yes, I sometimes judge a book by it's cover. It's just so hard not to!)
Maggie Rose by Sharlene MacLaren
Ahhh.......such a great story about Maggie Rose -- the middle of the three Kane sisters. This story follows Maggie to New York where she moves in order to be able to serve at an orphanage. Such a beautiful story.....I thoroughly enjoyed it. I also loved picturing the orphanage in my head -- a former mansion. Happy sigh. This book totally left me wanting more, which was just fine and dandy since I read book 3 next!
Abbie Ann by Sharlene MacLaren
Oh my stars! What a good book. Seriously, I loved this entire series. This book, the thickest of the three (LOVE a big thick, good story!) really did a fabulous job of telling the story of the youngest Kane sister as well as sort of letting us in on what was going on now in the two older sisters lives......sort of finishing up their stories with neat little bows on top! I highly recommend these 3 stories -- not only are they great, entertaining reads, but they're a great deal as well!
I hope you have a wonderful weekend. I'm enjoying ours. Tomorrow will be a busy day with me singing at church in the morning and the birthday party in the afternoon. Whatever you do this weekend, I hope that you're able to get some rest and relaxation....just what every weekend needs a bit of. :)
Toodle-loo,
