Hi there! It's time for the first Group Post this month at Papertrey Ink! Today, we're focusing on the fun new alphabet set called Alpha-blocks! There are, of course, all kinds of uses for this alphabet set, which you'll see today as you visit each of the girls on the Design Team.
When it came time for me to create with the new Alpha-blocks stamp set, I couldn't wait to stitch up a sweet little banner using these adorable letters and the process couldn't have been easier! With the Alpha-blocks stamp set, you'll be able to whip up little word banners to your heart's content! Just imagine it......banner's for every occasion, and in just minutes! Need a "merry" banner for Christmas? Easy! How about a "hello" banner just because? Not a problem! Want to make a birthday banner with the birthday boy or girl's name? A cinch!
For my card, I decided to go with a gender neutral birthday card that I can have on hand and ready when the next birthday pops up that I'll need a card for. I started out with a kraft card base....this card measures 6 1/2" x 4 1/4". To that card base, I added a layer of By The Numbers patterned paper.
Next, I die cut the little flags with the new Alpha-blocks die (it cuts out 6 little rectangles at once.....so fast and easy!) and then stamped them with letters using summer sunrise and orange zest inks. I went ahead and laid them on the cream card stock just to get an idea of how I wanted them placed, and then went ahead and stamped the word "birthday" from Big Birthday Wishes in the bottom right corner.
A bit of repositionable adhesive was used to hold the letters lightly in place. That made it so easy to just run them thru my sewing machine, stitching them to the cream card stock, and effectively creating a little banner. I trimmed off a bit of the thread hanging on either side of the banner, but kept most of the length to add to the banner look. Some summer sunrise and orange zest buttons were adhered between each of the little flags. I also pulled/curled each of the flags forward just a bit with my finger, to give them more of a "flying in the wind" kind of look. :)
Along the bottom of the cream panel, I added a strip of orange zest card stock that was die cut with the eyelet lace die. I love that little scalloped edge peeking out....it's soft curves help to balance out all of the straight edges and rectangles all over the card.
To finish things off, I added a sweet little vintage cream felt heart to one of the "p's". The heart was cut with one of the Love Lives Here dies and I adhered it with a bit of scor-tape.
Well, have you started imagining all of the little banner cards you can create, with Alpha-blocks? I hope you're feeling a bit inspired to try it out for yourself. And just remember that even if you don't have a sewing machine, you could easily achieve the same look by using twine, thread, or even ribbon.
