Hello.....happy Saturday.
We planted some new hyacinth bulbs last year because our old hyacinths seem to be getting a bit more spindly with each passing year. Plus, there's a gorgeous fuchsia color that I've always wanted but haven't ever had. (Our neighbors have one amongst their other colors of hyacinth) So last fall, we planted some new hyacinth bulbs in some pink and purple varieties. This big purple beauty is the first of the new bulbs to have popped this year. Hyacinths are such a spectacular flower, aren't they?
Meanwhile, I'm waiting for these pinkies to pop. Oh my word, I can't tell you how excited I am. You know how when you buy bulbs, you're just sort of going by the picture on the display or on the packaging......you don't have any way to REALLY know what the color will EXACTLY be......but you get the ones that are what you THINK you want and then you hope and pray that they turn out to be exactly PERFECT. Or maybe that's just me. :) I'm kind of a stickler for color.
At any rate, I'd say that between these two shades of pinks that are waiting to bloom, there's a pretty good chance that I'm gonna end up with the fuchsia that I've wanted for years. Yay. I'll be sure and keep you posted!
And the first tulip to raise her pretty head this year, too....
Before I go, I wanted to tell you about a book series I recently finished. This is the House of Hope series by Neta Jackson. It's a series of 4 books that you can read alone, but it's also a spin-off of the Yada-Yada Prayer Group series (7 books in that one) by the same author. You don't have to have read the Yada-Yada series first, in order to read these, but I just thought I'd mention it in case you wanted to read both series.
I really enjoyed the House of Hope series. The story takes place in modern-day Chicago. I don't want to give too much away, but let me just say that book 1 will leave you with a bit of a cliff-hanger. So my advice is to be sure to have book 2 ready the second you finish book 1! Haha.....you're not gonna want to wait to get the second one. :) Take it from someone who knows......
I should also tell you that while I don't see it on Amazon, I did find a single book at Borders (in the store) that had the first three titles all in one large book, for $25. That price alone, is less than buying the first 3 books separately, but then if you have a Borders coupon, you can get it for even less. Just a little tip for you....
Anyway, great series. Check it out.
Have a fabulous day,
