Hello! Welcome back to the final day of the Papertrey Countdown.....it's another Group Post day for the design team so each of the design team girls will have projects to share with you showcasing a new set called Garden Variety that was designed by Nichole Heady with concepts by Melissa Phillips. I think you're gonna love this one! I've got several Garden Variety projects to show you today, as well as another Whale Wishes card so let's get right to it, shall we?
I created a set of garden themed gift tags using the new seed packet frame die and lots of elements from the Garden Variety stamp set. Don't you just love that seed packet frame and the gorgeous frame stamp from Garden Variety? Each of the title images in the frame along the top of each tag are all additional mix and match elements from Garden Variety.
On the colored card stock on each tag, I stamped flower images from the new Year of Flowers Collection stamp set and heat embossed them with clear embossing powder. These floral images are from the popular Year of Flowers series but have been scaled down to fit perfectly in the frame opening on the seed packet frame, allowing you to create your own little seed packets to your heart's content. (Yes, there is a seed packet die that the seed packet frame fits onto!)
I wanted to package the little tags up to give as a gift.....the 3 tags are a perfect fit in a small glassine bag. I used the seed packet frame die again to create a little focal point to adhere to the front of the bag. The hand tools are images from Garden Variety, as well as the "manufacturing" sentiment along the bottom of the frame. The "Scatter seeds of kindness" sentiment (that I love) is from the Year of Flowers Collection stamp set. Behind the frame is a fillable frames #4 die cut as well as a doily that was cut using a doily details die from dark chocolate card stock. The doily was cut in half so that it could peek out on either side of the frame.
Here's a closer look at each of the gift tags....
Next up is a pretty little card that started out with a rustic cream card base. The kraft layer was run thru the Big Shot with my new Cane Print Impression Plate. I love the added detail it gives the card and goes so well with the garden theme....almost like pretty lattice work.
Again, I used the seed packet frame die and images from the Garden Variety stamp set to create my seed packet frame. Instead of stamping an image inside the frame, this time I backed it with some patterned paper from the 2009 Bitty Dot Basics collection. Die cut felt flowers were created with the Beautiful Blooms II dies and raspberry fizz & pure poppy felt. I stitched the layers together along with a button, using rustic jute button twine. Tucked just behind the flowers are leaves that were die cut from simply chartreuse card stock using the Sending You leaf die.
For the sentiment to finish off the card, I used the double-ended banner die on rustic cream card stock and then stamped the "Wishing you a happy birthday." sentiment from Mat Stack 1 Collection in dark chocolate ink.
As you can see, this next card contains more of the same elements that were used on the previous projects, but with a much different effect.
The seed packet frame die was used in conjuction with images from Garden Variety and tucked behind the frame is a piece of raspberry fizz card stock that was stamped with the gladiolus image from Year of Flowers Collection and heat embossed with clear embossing powder.
On the right side of the card, I created a fun border with those adorable hand tools. By mounting both stamps on the block at the same time, I was able to stamp the border quickly and it helped to ensure that everything was evenly spaced every time I stamped them.
The long raspberry fizz panel was impressed with the Cane Print Impression Plate and stamped with the "Scatter seeds of kindness" sentiment from Year of Flowers Collection. A bit of chocolate baker's twine provided the perfect little finishing touch.
I've got one more Garden Variety project to share with you today.....on this one, I started out with a pure poppy card base and used the Cane Print Impression Plate only on the top 2/3 of the card front. (This means that the cane print pattern carries over to the back side of the card just a bit.)
For the focal point, the mat stack 5 die was used on stamper's select white card stock and then I stamped the watering can, stems and poppies images from Garden Variety. Do you love that watering can as much as I do?
I heat embossed the sentiment from Garden Variety with clear embossing powder along the bottom of the card.
Now before I go, I've got one more card to share wtih you. We couldn't forget about the little whale, could we?
I wanted to create a really fun and girly card using Whale Wishes and I think this is just the ticket. The whale was die cut using the new Whale Wishes die and then stamped with the coordinating image from the Whale Wishes stamp set in raspberry fizz ink.
The whale is layered on a bit of patterned paper from Heather's new Road Trip collection, and that is matted on raspberry fizz card stock.
The "Sending you an ocean of love and well wishes" sentiment is another from Whale Wishes. I love that this sentiment could be used for a variety of occasions or needs. On either side of the sentiment, a few pink rhinestones were added for a touch of bling.
Along the bottom of the melon berry card base, I used the smaller Edgers #3 die to add a bit more softness with those elongated curves, further adding to the overall girly feel of the card.
I hope that you've enjoyed your visit with me today. Be sure to make the rounds to visit each of the design team girls, plus Melissa Bickford and Tiffany Pastor will have one more peek at their newest sets.
