Hello there!! Welcome to the first day of the May Countdown at Papertrey Ink! I'm excited to share several new Raspberry Suite products that I've designed with you today, that are all coming out this month! All of the new products that you'll be getting peeks at this week will be available for purchase at Papertrey Ink beginning on May 15.
First up today, let me introduce you to my newest stamp set, Whale Wishes! Whale Wishes is a $5 stamp set (!) that contains an adorable little whale image as well as a couple tiny images to use with him and a variety of sentiments that I think you're going to love.
I've also designed a coordinating die for the little whale, making this little guy even more versatile.
Now, an obvious card to make with the little whale is a baby card, so I thought we'd just start there today. But just you wait -- I think you're going to be surprised at how many different cards you could use this little whale on! I'll have lots more to show you in the next few days!
The Whale Wishes Die was used on hawaiian shores card stock and then the coordinating whale was stamped with versamark ink. The "Welcome, baby" sentiment is also from the Whale Wishes stamp set and it was stamped on a strip of stamper's select white card stock, that was die cut with the double ended banners die.
I added a little adhesive pearl to the whale for his eye and stamped the little water drops image (also from Whale Wishes) just above the whale on the white circle layer behind him. The two circles were die cut with the limitless layers: 1.75" circle dies and a strip of scalloped ripe avocado card stock was die cut with the small scalloped border die and tucked just behind the sentiment layer.
The card base may look like white at first, but it's actually soft stone card stock -- a really light gray. To that, I added a few blocks of papers -- two patterns from the Green Boutique collection, as well as a piece of ripe avocado card stock. I love this color combo for baby boys! In fact, one of my dear friends just had a baby and I made this card with her and her new little bundle in mind. Can't wait to give it to her!
Next up, I'd like to show you a new impression plate I've designed for this month's release -- the Cane Print impression plate! Oh my stars.....I LOVE this impression plate! The impressions it makes are deep and gorgeous! I think you're going to love the texture it adds to projects! Can you see the pattern on the pink card stock? The pattern is the same on both sides of the impression plate, just oriented a bit differently on the other side.
How about a card showcasing the Cane Print impression plate....
I couldn't resist using a couple of Heather's new stamp sets from this release, to create a wedding card for a friend of ours that's getting married soon! Whenever I can, I love to take my color cues for wedding cards, from the wedding invitation that I receive in the mail. Making a card using the bride & groom's own chosen colors is a thoughtful way to show that you care.
I started out with a royal velvet card base. Next, I stamped some of Heather's flower images from Wildflower Garden using plum pudding & ripe avocado inks. I stamped an extra purple flower and cut it out so that I could pop it up on foam adhesive, and added a royal velvet button to the flower's center with a large purple rhinestone on top.
I also stamped the "wedding wishes" sentiment from Heather's new Tag-Its #4 stamp set. (Watch Heather's blog for lots more about these sets this week!)
Before I began stamping, I took that piece of vintage cream card stock and used the Cane Print impression plate just along the bottom 1/3 of the paper. It adds such a lovely detail along the bottom of the card. After running it thru the Big Shot with the impression plate, I easily added the stamping up top. A scalloped strip of plum pudding card stock as well as a plum pudding satin bow provided the perfect border between the stamped portion of the cream card stock and the impressed portion.
Don't you just love the look of the Cane Print impression plate?!! Sigh...
All righty, I've got one more new product to introduce you to.....the Edgers #3 dies! You've been asking for the next in the series and here they are!! These edgers dies provide a pretty scalloped edge to your cards. You may recognize the pattern from one of the Color Couture card templates. I think you're going to love what all you can do with these. Let me show you a new little trick I've discovered.....
I started out with a 4 1/4" square piece of card stock and the smaller of the two Edgers #3 dies.
If you die cut the top and bottom edges of the card stock, you create a really pretty frame that could be used on a card! Orient it vertically or horizontally......either way works perfectly, and adds a really pretty detail to your card!
But.....
If you turn the card stock and go ahead and use the Edgers #3 die on the other two sides as well, you end up with yet another darling mat layer that can be used on your card. Here's what I did with mine......
I thought the cream card stock kind of resembled a flower, so I decided to add to that theme to create a giant flower focal point!
I inked the edges of the cream layer with vintage touch tea dye ink and then die cut two circles with the limitless layers: 2.5" circle dies from raspberry fizz card stock and 2009 Bitty Dot Basics patterned paper. Next up is a die cut flower (Beautiful Blooms II die) topped with a pair of raspberry fizz buttons that were threaded with chocolate baker's twine. Tucked behind that smaller flower layer is a label that was die cut with an angled labels die and stamped with a coordinating label image from Label Basics. The "happy summer" sentiment is another from Heather's Tag-Its #4. Cute, right? :)
Behind the flower are a couple of leaves that were die cut with the Sending You die.
And how about some more from the Cane Print impression plate? It was used on the kraft card stock base before I inked the edges a bit with vintage touch tea dye ink.
Thanks so much for stopping by today! Be sure to visit Nichole Heady and Erin Lincoln to see lots more Whale Wishes inspiration, plus Betsy Veldman is showcasing another new stamp set today. And on top of that, Heather Nichols, Melissa Bickford and Tiffany Pastor will be sharing peeks at their newest sets as well!
Have a fabulous day, sweet friends, and I'll see you back here tomorrow with lots more new release fun!
