I am just about convinced that there is no greater scent on earth, than that of a lilac in bloom. It is heavenly. If I could somehow transmit the scent to you along with these photos, I most certainly would.
And not only do they smell fantastic, but the colors are amazing, don't you think?
These photos are all from the oldest of our lilac bushes. We have three now, but Bart planted this one years ago. I love that bush so much that we planted two more last year.....one that will eventually be just like this one and one dwarf variety on the side of the house that still smells heavenly, even though it's smaller. The larger one blooms a bit before the small one which makes it kind of nice......stretches out the amount of time I can walk out to the bushes and drink in that yummy lilac scent! Ha.
The only thing better than having lilacs in your yard, is bringing lilacs into the house! They make the house smell divine. Sigh....I love that.
I have lots to share with you including how our big planting weekend turned out this past weekend (it was wonderful!). Lots of pictures to come......I've still got a pile of them to be edited and the blog post to be typed. :) I've been working on product designs this week and I have a mountain of a to-do list to accomplish before our upcoming Europe trip. It's getting closer now and I'm starting to get really excited. So much to do and so little time. Guess I'd better run!
