Hello there and welcome back for Day 3 of the Papertrey Countdown. All of the new products you're getting peeks at this week will be available for purchase at Papertrey Ink beginning on May 15.
To kick things off today, I have a little card to show you featuring Whale Wishes.
I used the Whale Wishes die to cut out a little whale from aqua mist card stock. Rather than stamping him with the coordinating whale image from the Whale Wishes stamp set, I stamped him with dots from Polka Dot Basics II and simply added a pearl for his eye. I love that you can use the Whale Wishes die with patterned papers or can stamp any pattern you'd like on your little whale. Above the whale, I stamped the little water drops from Whale Wishes and added a die cut cloud.
I was able to create the effect of ocean waves by die cutting strips of hawaiian shores card stock with the jumbo rick rack die and adhering them back and forth, slightly off center. Behind the hawaiian shores layer, I stamped the scalloped pattern from Background Basics: Retro to reinforce the look of ocean waves.
The sentiment at the bottom of the card is another from the Whale Wishes stamp set -- "Wishing you a whale of a happy birthday".
I've got another thank you card for you today.....that seems to be the theme for me in the studio this week. The vintage cream panel here is the one I showed you on Day 1 of the Countdown.....it started out as a 4 1/4" square and I used the Edgers #3 Die on both the top and bottom edges. For the purposes of this card, I chose to position the cream panel so that the scallops along the top stick up over the top edge of the card front.
The smaller Edgers #3 die was used on the vintage cream layer while the larger Edgers #3 die was used on the berry sorbet card front. The two nestle together quite nicely, as you can see here along the bottom of the card.
I also couldn't resist using the Cane Print Impression Plate on the vintage cream layer. The beauty of this impression plate is that it works so well on so many different cards. I should probably apologize up front.....I think you'll be seeing me use this one a LOT.
Strips of papers were added to help ground the flower. The "thank you so very much" sentiment from Mat Stack 1 Collection was stamped on melon berry card stock and tucked just behind that is a strip of patterned paper from Heather's new Road Trip patterned paper collection.
The flower was created by die cutting melon berry felt with the Beautiful Blooms II #3 dies. The layers were tied together with a berry sorbet button and a bit of rustic cream button twine. Tucked just behind the flower are kraft die cut leaves, stamped with the coordinating leaf image from Turning a New Leaf and versamark ink.
Thank you so much for visiting me today. Nichole Heady has lots more to share with you. Plus, Lisa Johnson and Maile Belles will be showcasing some new releases and Heather Nichols, Melissa Bickford and Tiffany Pastor will also have more peeks at their newest stamp sets.
Take care, sweet friends, and I'll see you again tomorrow,
