Hello there!! Today is the first of the Group Posts at Papertrey Ink this month, which means that each of the girls on the design team will have some projects to share with you today, highlighting the new Half & Half stamp set that Nichole Heady designed. I am not exaggerating in the least when I tell you that I have used this set and/or it's coordinating dies on nearly every project I've made so far, for this release! They're so darn versatile!
For today, I've got a few projects to show you starting with this candy jar packaging.
I started out by using one of the 3 Half & Half dies to cut out a long strip of white adhesive sheet. (So basically, this is one long die-cut sticker.) The beauty of these dies is that they're open-ended so you can make your die cut longer or shorter as needed.
I stamped the plaid image from Half & Half that coordinates with this particular die, on the white adhesive sheet using berry sorbet ink and then stamped the pretty, coordinating solid bracket image over the top in dark chocolate ink.
I wanted the pattern to cover the whole strip so I simply turned the stamp around and stamped it on the back end of the strip as well. I created two of these strips to create the base "label" on my jar packaging.
Next, I die cut some rustic cream and dark chocolate card stock using the limitless layers: 1 3/4" circle dies and stamped the cream layer with a sentiment from Half & Half. I also die cut some berry sorbet card stock with the fillable frames #11 die and stamped another solid bracket from Half & Half on either end, before layering the circle die cuts on top.
I simply peeled the paper backing off the white adhesive sheets and stuck them directly to the lid and down the front and back of the jar, before adhering the other die cuts to the front to finish things off. I love, LOVE how professional this packaging looks! It looks like a gift you'd buy in a specialty shop, already packaged for gift-giving. This gift is perfect for a friend, co-worker, maybe even a teacher at your kids' school........really the possibilities are endless. Change the sentiment as needed and the candy to suit your recipients' taste! I went with Whoppers for this one. :) I like to keep in mind the color of the candy, when I'm decorating the outside of the jar. Nothing wrong with a little color-coordinating candy!
The jar is one I bought at Target for a few dollars. And just so you know, the white adhesive sheet label will pull right off the jar when the recipient is ready to bust into the candy, making the candy easily accessible and the jar totally reusable! LOVE!
Next up is a fun little mix-y match-y card. The "Grateful for you" sentiment is from Half & Half.
For that long raspberry fizz layer in the back, I started out by die-cutting a strip with another of the Half & Half dies. (Love this one!)
Next, I flipped it around, lined it up in the "track" of the die and die cut the other end! You can do this with all 3 of the Half & Half dies, because of their open-ended design! LOVE the design flexibility this gives! Make the strip as long or short as you need it to be!
Now, this time, I wanted to use that same plaid patterned stamp again, but as you case see from the photo (or you can see it on the label in the previous project), this stamp isn't the one specifically designed to fit this particular die. However, I simply inked up most of the stamp with versamark ink and stamped it on either end of the die-cut strip, not worrying that the center didn't get stamped. (That will be covered up when the card is put together.)
My signature series: butterfly die was used to die cut layers of vintage book print to create the butterfly. I simply tied all of the layers together with a bit of chocolate baker's twine and topped with a simply chartreuse button. The Postage die and Postmarks stamp set were used to create the little ripe avocado postage stamp tucked in next to the butterfly. All of those little goodies are piled on a die cut circle of Sweet Symphony patterned paper.
On either side of my focal image, I stamped the solid bracket from Half & Half that coordinates with this particular die shape, using it to frame my focal point.
Now, once I started die cutting strips with these fabulous new Half & Half dies, I knew I HAD to whip up a simple set of bookmarks for myself!! I LOVE to read (usually about a book per week) so bookmarks always come in handy. I'm a little picky about them though, as it turns out......I like them to be nice and flat (don't want any harm to come to my precious books, because of fat, puffy bookmarks!) and I like them to have a straight edge (in case I have to stop reading in the middle of a page -- I can use the bookmark to show which line to start reading when I come back). AND, I like them to be cute and colorful! Who knew I had so many rules about bookmarks?! Haha.
I used all three of the new Half & Half dies (die cutting each bookmark twice and adhering them together, back to back. Then I stamped each one with it's coordinating image from the Half & Half stamp set using versamark ink. As you can see though, the images from the stamp set are not nearly as long as the die allows you to cut. Not to worry -- that leaves you the perfect space to stamp a darling book-y sentiment at the bottom!
The script-y brackets on each of these bookmarks is from Half & Half, while the sentiments (which totally make me smile) are from the All Booked Up stamp set. Each were stamped in dark chocolate ink.
Well, that's it for me today. I hope you've enjoyed your visit with me. What do you think of Half & Half? Are you as in love with this product line as I am? That Nichole -- she's a genius, isn't she?!
Be sure to visit each of the girls on the Design Team to see their Half & Half projects today. Plus, Melissa Bickford will have another peek for you, at her newest sets.
