Hello there!! Welcome back.....it's time for the second Group Post this month at Papertrey. Each of the Design Team members have projects to share with you today, all highlighting another stamp set designed by Nichole Heady -- called Tranquility Trilogy -- featuring a variety of triangle images. Today, I get to help introduce you to this set, so I have quite a few projects to share with you.
First up is a little gift set incorporating some fun gift packaging using the new Favor It Box #5 die. But before we get to the packaging, let's talk about the gift a little, shall we? After all, it's just fun to talk about jewelry for a bit! :)
A couple years ago, our dear friends John & Lynn, came from Australia to travel around the US and while they were here, they came and stayed with us for several days. We ate until we nearly popped, we shopped until we nearly dropped (not really, but it sounded good) and we just had a great time during their stay. One day, we stopped in at our local mall and you should have seen the way Lynn's eyes lit up when she saw that we have a Pandora store. A whole entire Pandora store. A whole store devoted to those pretty little bracelets and necklaces and earrings and all of the fun beads and charms you can add to them. You see, in Australia, you mostly just have to buy Pandora items in regular jewelry stores with sometimes limited selections, so it was kind of a big deal for Lynn to get to shop in a whole store devoted to this jewelry that she loved. Meanwhile, I had no idea what it even was! Haha. Well, Lynn schooled me on the inner workings of Pandora and I have her to blame....er......thank for my ever-expanding Pandora collection today! :)
Turns out, collecting Pandora jewelry is almost as fun as collecting paper-crafting supplies!! I know you all know what I'm sayin'.......collecting paper-crafting goodies is half the fun of this hobby of ours, isn't it? Well, let me just tell you that collecting Pandora is about the same. Now, if you've never heard of Pandora before today, then let me apologize......I might be introducing you to yet another thing you end up collecting! Haha.
The fun thing about Pandora is that once your family and friends know that you like Pandora, they may do like my family and friends and add to your collection for you at every birthday, holiday and special occasion that comes along! Just look at my collection, for instance! Most of those pretties were gifted to me for one occasion or another and I LOVE them.
In many cases, I can tell you who gave me which bead or maybe which occasion it represents. There is a story that goes along with many of these, and that's part of what makes them so fun to collect.
Take, for instance, the butterfly bead on the yellow bracelet in the above photo. It was the first bead Bartley ever gave me. It is not one that I would have picked out for myself, but when I asked him why he chose that one, he said, "I don't know....I just thought it was cute." :) That bead always makes me think of Bart and that makes me love it.
On the red bracelet above, there's a little doghouse with a red heart on one side and a little doggie poking out of the door on the other side. Two of my dear friends sent me that bead after our dear Riley-dog passed away two months ago. Something to remember him by....I can't tell you how touched I was by their thoughtfulness. I cried. But now, that bead totally makes me smile.
And I tweeted awhile back about the heart bead above -- the one on the purple bracelet. It's the "Royal Wedding" bead that we bought on our recent vacation to London & Paris. We bought it in Windsor, in fact, and now that we're getting a new puppy and have decided to name him Windsor, that bead totally makes me think of him.
My sisters, sister-in-law and even several friends have Pandora "collections" (*wink*) of their own these days, so I've gotten so that I buy gifts for them at Pandora. And when I do, I wait until our Pandora store has a "free bracelet with purchase" promotion. That way, I buy the gifts I need for them, and I get another free bracelet for me! Brilliant, wouldn't you say? 4 of those bracelets you see in these photos, are ones that I got for free! Score!
So when buying those gifts, you can have Pandora gift wrap the items for you, or you can bring them home and create your own cute packaging that color coordinates with the gift! That's where today's gift ensemble comes into play!
Here's a bit of kraft card stock that I've die cut using the new Favor It Box #5 die.
And here's the box all folded up and ready to decorate.....a cute little pyramid box!
I used the new Tranquility Trilogy stamp set along with the new Two Triangles dies to create the layers that I added to each side of the gift box. I chose the yellow/brown color combo to coordinate with the yellow bead.
Just like they do at Pandora, I cut a small snippet of coordinating ribbon (harvest gold saddle stitch) and slid the bead onto the ribbon. Then, the bead can be wrapped in a bit of tissue and tucked inside the box. Easy peasy!
For the card, I started out with a kraft card base and added a panel of Damask Designs patterned paper. Next is another strip of kraft card stock that was die cut with one of the new Half & Half dies and then stamped with a pretty bracket from the Half & Half stamp set.
I also added a scalloped strip of vintage book print, some Distressed Dots patterned paper and some harvest gold saddle stitch ribbon.
The rustic cream and dark chocolate triangles were die cut with the new Two Triangles dies and then stamped with an image and sentiment from Tranquility Trilogy.
Another fun thing you can do with these triangles is create a little banner! I used only the smaller Two Triangles die on these triangles and then stamped them with different triangle images from Tranquility Trilogy, using versamark ink on each one. Little holes were punched along the top of each triangle so that I could thread them onto chocolate baker's twine.
Behind the little banner is rustic cream card stock that was stamped with Background Basics: Newsprint in smokey shadow ink. Vintage touch tea dye ink was used around the edges of that panel, to distress it a bit.
For the sentiment, I used a Half & Half die and a sentiment from the coordinating stamp set and stitched the little strip with my sewing machine.
Tranquility Trilogy can also be used to stamp fun background patterns!
I stamped the same triangle image from Tranquility Trilogy in rows, flipping the image upside down, every other time. I also alternated the colors (hawaiian shores and ripe avocado) for added interest.
For the sentiment, I die cut a strip of ripe avocado card stock with a Half & Half die (I TOLD you I've used Half & Half goodies on nearly every project this week!) and stamped it with the coordinating striped image from Half & Half. The sentiment was stamped on rustic cream card stock and limitless layers: 1 3/4" circle dies were used to create the circle layers. A strip of hawaiian shores card stock and a button finished things off.
You can also use the Tranquility Trilogy triangles to add decorative strips to your projects! I used another one of the triangles on this card, stamping the image in versamark ink on berry sorbet card stock. I love the subtle detail it adds.
Along the bottom edge of the card is a strip of dark chocolate card stock that was die cut with the small scalloped border die.
The mat stack 5 die was used to create the focal point for this card. The "Thanks for all you do" sentiment is from the new Think Big Favorites #6 and the brackets are from Half & Half. A pure poppy button threaded with chocolate baker's twine was the finishing touch on the mat stack layer and some pure poppy classic grosgrain ribbon is tucked behind the sentiment.
