Hello there!! Welcome back for Day 2 of the Papertrey Countdown! We're getting closer to Release Day (Nov. 15) when all of this month's new releases will be available for purchase at Papertrey Ink.
I've got more fun cards to show you today, featuring my newest stamp set, Glory Be. In keeping with the sort of "granny chic" theme of the Glory Be stamp set, I had grandmas in mind when I created this first card. When I think of grandmas, I think of cozy quilts and pretty stitching and it was with those thoughts in mind, that I created this first card.
I used the little square die from the Button Card Die set to cut out some Crate Paper patterned papers from the Emma's Shoppe collection. I wanted a sort of quilt pattern look so I placed them on the card front in a diagonal pattern, before stitching them in place on my sewing machine.
The signature series: flower die was used to die cut 3 layers of rustic cream card stock which were stitched together with a pure poppy button in the center, to create the flower focal point. I stamped the "Heavens to Betsy" sentiment from Glory Be on sweet blush card stock that was die cut with an angled labels die and then stamped the "You are such a dear" sentiment from Glory Be directly on the card front.
I decided to create my own "granny chic" background pattern on this next card by stamping Background Basics: Newsprint in aqua mist ink on a rustic cream card stock base. After that, I sprayed the card front with Mister Huey's calico shine spray mist.
The Sending You die was used to cut out the frame from kraft card stock, which was also spritzed with Mister Huey's calico shine. The leaves for the flowers were cut with the leaves from the Sending You die collection. I also used the Friendly Flower die to cut out some aqua ledger paper from Crate Paper's Emma's Shoppe collection. I crumpled up the flower layers a bit and inked the edges of each layer with vintage touch tea dye ink. They were all stitched together with a large raspberry fizz button (that button makes me smiiiiile) and some rustic jute button twine. A couple of Dritz pearlized pins were tucked into a bit of foam adhesive behind the flower.
I stamped the "Goodness Gracious" sentiment on one of the leaves, and then added the "I'm sorry I missed your birthday" sentiment (both from Glory Be) on a thin strip of aqua mist card stock. An additional strip of kraft card stock was die cut with the small scalloped border die and adhered along the bottom of the Sending You frame and a bit of Hero Arts adhesive lace was added as a finishing touch. Sweet little grannies and pretty lace go hand in hand, after all, don't they? :)
On this last card for today, I started out with a rustic cream card base and added a panel of melon berry card stock that was impressed with the Woodgrain Impression Plate and splattered with a bit of Mister Huey's calico white spray mist.
The button card dies and Button Boutique stamp set were used to create this "vintage finds" button card. The snippet of woodgrain patterned paper is from Crate Paper's Emma's Shoppe collection. The signature series: flower die was used to die cut some Damask Designs patterned paper and a fun, vintage-looking melon berry button was tied with a bit of rustic jute button twine and added to the flower.
As for the strip of patterned paper (also Crate Paper, Emma's Shoppe) along the bottom of the card, it is stamped with two more sentiments from Glory Be. I can remember clear back to when I was as young as 4 or 5 years old and my Great-Grandma on my mom's side, said "Oh, my land of livin'", ALL the time!! Every time she exclaimed over anything, it seemed to start out with "Oh, my land of livin'.....you're getting so big!" Or "Oh, my land of livin', you sang that song (Jesus Loves Me) so pretty, Dawn Marie!" Haha. She ALWAYS wanted me to sing for her and Jesus Loves Me was one of my favorite stand-by's. *smile* I would sway back and forth and sing my little heart out and she'd tell me to stand still. Even now, when I sing at church, I can't seem to stand still. Hee. Some things never change, I guess. Come to think of it, my Grandma (Great-Grandma's daughter) still wants us all to sing for her, every time we go visit! Anyway, I suppose I'm rambling a bit about my dear Grandmas, but my Great-Grandma said this phrase so often that I just had to include it in the Glory Be stamp set. When I think of a "granny chic" sentiment, this one fits the bill perfectly! Did your Grandma say this one?
Well, that's it for me today. Thanks for letting me reminisce a bit about my family. I hope the sentiments included in Glory Be are helping to remind you of some dear loved ones and sweet memories as well.
Be sure to visit Nichole Heady as well as Heather Nichols for today's featured sneak peeks. Maile Belles, Melissa Bickford and Beth Silaika will also have peeks at their newest sets for you.
Oh, my land of livin', have a great day and I'll see you back here tomorrow for more peeks at Glory Be! :)
