Hellooooo!! Welcome, welcome. It's the first day of the Papertrey Countdown! All of the new products you'll be getting peeks at for the next few days will be available for purchase at Papertrey Ink beginning on Nov. 15. I'm beyond excited to introduce you to the next stamp set in my Raspberry Suite line, Glory Be!
Glory Be is a sentiment set filled with mix and match sentiments including a variety of "Granny chic" phrases (think, things an adorable little granny might say) as well as a wide assortment of everyday sentiments. Pair a "Granny chic" sentiment with an everyday sentiment to create a wide array of custom sentiments for your cards. And don't forget that all of those "granny-esque" phrases can also be paired with ANY of the sentiments you already have in your stash, to give you even more custom sentiment-building options!!
I can't wait to show you all of the sentiments in Glory Be! I think you just might love how unique and fun these phrases are to use! I've got several projects to show you today, so come on in, put your feet up and get comfy.....just like you would at Grandma's house! In fact, Grandma would probably even get you a snack or a cup of something yummy to drink. Go ahead.....I'll wait. :)
For today's first card, I began with a kraft card base. You're probably already noticing that delicious background, aren't you??? That's a new die that you'll have to watch Nichole's blog this week, for more infomation about. You're gonna love it. I die cut a kraft layer of card stock to create that awesome pattern and adhered it over a kraft card base. I loooove the texture it gives to the background while still being all one color.
The sentiments on the focal point here, show you two examples of sentiments from Glory Be. The "Land Sakes" sentiment is one of the Granny chic phrases.....Did your Grandma say "land sakes"? My great-grandma did. *smile* I can still hear her voice, thinking about it now. Anywho.....I paired the "Land Sakes" sentiment with a "Thank you so much" sentiment to create my own fun phrasing on this card.
The flowers on the focal point are from the Daydreamer stamp set. They were stamped in raspberry fizz ink and the stems/leaves in dark chocolate. Along the bottom of the cream panel, you may have noticed the pinked edge?? .....another fun new die from this release! I also added a snippet of smokey shadow topnotch twill ribbon (yes, I said smokey shadow) ;) and a raspberry fizz button, threaded with a bit of chocolate baker's twine.
Now, how about another look at that fun new background die??? This time, I die cut raspberry fizz card stock and layered it on a pure poppy card base. How fun is that?! Gah!
I used the tag sale #5 die here, with kraft card stock and stamped a couple of the doilies from my Delightful Doilies stamp set using fresh snow ink, because what's more "granny chic" than doilies???? Heeee! I also tucked a cream colored doily details die cut behind the tag and topped the tag with some vintage cream topnotch twill ribbon.
As for the sentiments on this card, I chose "Good Heavens" from the Glory Be set and paired it with "I just love you". I can't tell you how fun it is mixing and matching all of these sentiments. They were designed so that they all work together easily. I stamped the "I just love you" on a bit of raspberry fizz card stock that was die cut with the double-ended banner die. A few raspberry fizz buttons finish this card off.
Ok, so remember what I said about grannies and doilies???? Certainly not all grannies love doilies, but there are definitely some that do, and it was with those dearies in mind that I created this next card!
I actually saw this photo on Pinterest and it sparked the idea to create a card inspired by that doily runner. As you can see, what I came up with is super simple to make, but I have to say, is so striking in real life.
I simply die cut 5 doilies using all 3 of my doily details dies, from rustic cream and stamper's select white card stocks. I adhered them in a "sort of" row, being careful to not have them too symmetrical. Once they were adhered to the kraft card base, I sprayed the whole thing with Mister Huey's Calico Shine spray. (May I never run out of the stuff....)
The top and bottom doilies were trimmed off along the card edges. I stamped a couple more sentiments from Glory Be on the bottom doily, "Glory Be" and "I'm so happy for you". I also added a few wood buttons from my stash (discontinued Papertrey) that were threaded with button twine. All in all, a super simple but shabby chic kind of card. :)
Now that you've seen today's projects, think back to your own grandmas. Did she say "land sakes", "good Heavens" or "glory be"? Is/was there a phrase or saying she used time and time again? Is there a saying that totally reminds you of her....and makes you smile? Perhaps even a sentiment that you're hoping is included in the Glory Be stamp set? I'd love to hear about it!
Be sure to visit Nichole Heady as well as Betsy Veldman and Erin Lincoln for today's featured sneak peeks. Heather Nichols, Maile Belles, Melissa Bickford and Beth Silaika will also have peeks at their newest sets for you.
Thanks for visiting with me today. I'll be back tomorrow with lots more Glory Be fun! I hope you'll join me.
P.S. A bit of Glory Be trivia for you, something that those of you that have been around here a long time may have already guessed: My youngest sister's name is Glory, so this set was named with her in mind! ;) (Love you, Sis!)
