Hello there,
Welcome back to day 4 of the Papertrey Countdown! Today just so happens to be the first Group Post this month so of course that means that each of the girls on the design team will have projects to share with you. Today we're highlighting a new stamp set that Nichole Heady designed, called Rosie Posie! Um, first, can I just say how much I love that name?! Rosie Posie. How cute is that? And not only does this set have an adorable name, but the set is GORGEOUS!! Oh my heck, I love this set so much. So much. I've been using it all week and I can't seem to stop.....so I was thrilled to hear that this is one of the sets we're focusing on for a group post this month!
(All of the new products releasing this month, including my Heart Border Die, will be available for purchase on December 15 (at a new time -- check Nichole's blog!) at Papertrey Ink.)
To get us started, Nichole challenged us to find an inspiration photo somewhere online, to base our projects on. I was thrilled to find this gorgeous photo....
How pretty is that bedspread?! It's a Cath Kidston pattern which totally makes me smile because when we were in London earlier this year, we spent a day in Windsor, England -- visiting Windsor Castle and the surrounding village. (That's where our puppy, Windsor's, name came from!)
Here's a photo from our trip.....I was so happy to discover a darling little Cath Kidston shop in Windsor, filled to the brim with floral patterned EVERYTHING! Hee.
Isn't it a cute little shop, even on the outside? :) We perused the little shop and I drooled over all of the floral prints.....tote bags and fabrics, wallpapers and stationary, kitchen goods and aprons.....you name it, they had it.
I'd also like to point out my vintage hanky......it's shown up in many a photo from my studio lately....
It reminds me of that bedding above! We picked this up for $2 in an antique store in a tiny, tiny town in Kansas and I've certainly put it to good use, in lots and lots of photos since I brought it home.
It was with all of that inspiration in mind, that I created these first two projects using Rosie Posie.
I started out with a kraft card base and stamped all of the elements on a panel of rustic cream card stock.
The "Take a moment..." sentiment is from the Harvest Berries stamp set and it was stamped in pure poppy ink. Just under that, I added the "Happy Birthday" sentiment from Birthday Basics, stamped in raspberry fizz ink.
I stamped several of the flower/leaf images from Rosie Posie to create the focal point at the bottom of the card. I then added a strip of raspberry fizz card stock that was stitched on my sewing machine. A pure poppy button created the perfect accent to the focal point.
Next up, I created a similar card using many of the same elements, but this time created a background pattern with some of the smaller images from Rosie Posie.
After stamping the background pattern and adhering the cream layer to the kraft layer, I spritzed the whole card front with Mister Huey's calico shine spray mist.
For the sentiment label, I used the new Happy Day stamp set and die. The label image and the "Birthday" sentiment are both from Happy Day, while the "HAPPY" sentiment is from my Say It With Style set. A simple strip of raspberry fizz card stock and a couple of raspberry fizz buttons finish things off. I love how easy it is to create really striking looks with these larger scaled flowers, while still keeping these cards fairly flat and easily mailable!
One more project to share with you before I go......we have to have a card today, using my new Heart Border Die after all, don't we? :)
I started out with a rustic cream card base for this one, and spritzed it with Mister Huey's Calico Shine and then added some droplets of Mister Huey's spray mist in cameo. Next, I took another panel of rustic cream card stock and added a paper doily (from Michael's) to the top and trimmed off the sides. Next, I added two pieces of kraft card stock, both die cut with the new Happy Day die and stamped with a coordinating image using versamark ink. On top of that, is a berry sorbet doily that was die cut with a Doily Details Die and then stamped with a flower image from Rosie Posie. Topping the doily is a rustic cream circle that was stamped with an image from Rosie Posie and punched out using a 1" circle punch. A threaded berry sorbet button and a bit of rustic cream twill ribbon finished things off.
And now for the little border at the bottom! I used the Heart Border Die to cut two strips of berry sorbet card stock and adhered them both, one right side up and one upside down. I love the pretty little diamond pattern that peeks thru the hearts!! On the bottom border, I stamped the "I adore you" sentiment from Tag-Its #11.
So that's it from me today! I hope you've enjoyed today's projects! Remember to bop around and visit the other girls on the Design Team for lots more Rosie Posie inspiration.
