Helloooo there!! Welcome to another Group Post for Papertrey Ink! Today, we're focusing on a brand new line of products that Nichole Heady has designed called Movers & Shakers, so each of the girls on the Design Team will have projects to share with you featuring different items from this product line. The Movers & Shakers collection includes a variety of dies designed to allow you to easily make interactive cards with things that move or pop up or spin, etc. There are also a couple of companion stamp sets perfectly designed with sentiments that go along with the various interactive features of the dies. I get to help introduce this collection to you today, so I've got quite a few projects to share with you, as well as lotttttts of photos so you might as well grab a cuppa and get comfy!! :)
First up, our assignment was to use one of the specific Movers & Shakers dies with an older set, as well as with the new sets that are designed to coordinate with these dies. I've selected the slits popper die to work with for this assignment, so how about if we start with a project that shows how well an older set can pair with these new dies.
I wanted to use Scattered Showers as the 'older set' for this card, so I started out by stamping the raindrop background on the aqua mist card base. To that, I added a panel of rustic cream card stock that's been stamped with the new Background Basics: Medallion. LOVE how this pattern reminds me of vintage wallpaper.
Next up, I die cut some kraft card stock with the Tag Sale #5 die and layered on some Rosie Posie flowers and leaves as well as a sentiment from Scattered Showers Additions. A doily details die was tucked behind the tag and some simply chartreuse ribbon was added to the top of the tab.
Now, to the fun part.....this is what you see when you open the card......
GAH! How fun is that?!! The cloud dies were used on aqua mist card stock and they were then stamped with the same Background Basics: Medallion that was used on the front of the card, however this time it was stamped in aqua mist only.
The Scattered Showers dies and stamp set were used to create the two little umbrellas and the Fillable Frames #11 die and stamp set were used to house the "Cheer up, Buttercup" sentiment from Scattered Showers.
Here's a side view so you can see how the card is constructed. I trimmed a piece of kraft card stock to 11" x 3 3/4" so the aqua mist card base would peek out on either side. I scored the kraft layer in half and the lined up the new Movers & Shakers: Poppers slit die along the score line and ran it thru the Vagabond. The result is 4 slits in the card stock that, when folded forward on the outsides and backward in the middle, create the perfect platform that pops up inside the card. All that's left is to decorate that little platform with whatever you'd like to pop up! As you can see, two layers of goodies can be added to pop up, and by using the card base as well, like I did with the clouds, you can essentially achieve 3 layers of dimension! I simply used a bit of scor-tape on the base of the umbrella handles to adhere them to the pop up platform.
Next up is another card using that same Movers & Shakers: Poppers die, but this time with the new Movers & Shakers Sentiments stamp set. What a FUN stamp set!!
The card base is kraft card stock, covered with one of the new patterns from the Raspberry Fizz Pattern Pack (LOVE how versatile these papers are!!!). The Mat Stack 3 die and Layerz Mat Stack 3 die were used to create the focal point. The "Every Single Day" sentiment from Movers & Shakers Sentiments was stamped in raspberry fizz ink and the "I am reminded how wonderful you are" sentiment (also from Movers & Shakers Sentiments) was stamped on a thin strip of kraft card stock with dark chocolate ink. The decorative image just under the sentiments is one from Celebrations. A few kraft buttons finished off the focal point.
Along the bottom of the card, I added two die cut strips of rustic cream and dark chocolate card stock -- die cut with the heart border die and the filigree border die. Chocolate baker's twine wrapped and tied was the finishing touch.
And here's what you see when you open the card.....
The fillable frames #4 die and coordinating frame image from the Fillable Frames Additions 1 stamp set were used to create the sentiment frame. The frame was stamped in kraft ink and the "Celebrating your birthday" sentiment from Movers & Shakers Sentiments was stamped in dark chocolate ink.
The Beautiful Blooms flower dies were used to create the flower and one of the new Frilly Flowers dies was used to die cut the leaves.
Here's the side view so you can see how it's constructed. In this case, I wanted the flower to pop up a bit above the sentiment, so I adhered another little strip of patterned paper to the back of the "seat" portion of the pop up as well as to the back side of the flower.
All righty, next up is another of the new Movers & Shakers: Poppers dies.....this one's a bit different, but we'll get to that in a sec. First, let's chat about the card front. :)
See that yummy stripey paper? It's another of the patterned papers in the Aqua Mist Pattern Pack.....it was die cut with the mat stack 5 die. On top of that is some hawaiian shores card stock that was die cut with the Celebrations die and stamped with a coordinating frame image from the Celebrations stamp set. The top layer is rustic cream card stock that was die cut with the Fillable Frames #5 die. It was stamped with two fun sentiments from Simply You stamp set -- "You" and "are beautiful inside and out."
Have I mentioned how much I love Background Basics: Medallion? And how much it reminds me of vintage wallpaper? I have? Well it bears repeating. Hee. I stamped it here with aqua mist and hawaiian shores inks. Happy sigh.
And here's what you see when you open the card....
FUN, right? The "Birthday" sentiment is from Movers & Shakers Sentiments. I cut a piece of the new Aqua Mist Pattern Pack bitty dot paper to a standard A2 size and scored it across the middle.
I know you can't see my score line here, but it's there and that's the edge you want to line up with the top edge of the HAPPY letters and then run it thru your die cutting machine.
Here's what you end up with.
Next, you'll need to take scissors and snip the letters free on either side of the die cut.
Then, to make your life easier, take a ruler and line it up from the top edge of the slit on the left to the top edge of the slit on the right and make a score line.
Then, you can fold the letters forward and fold along that score line you created and everything will fold flat for you inside the card.
All right, so next up is a card featuring one of my favorite new Movers & Shakers dies.......Movers & Shakers: Zippers! There are two sizes of this die and they are BRILLIANT!!!! By far, my favorite interactive feature on a card ever! EVER! Let me show you...
Here's one of the dies and the back side of the card stock I die cut with it. I know it's a bit hard to see in the photo, but you'll want to run your adhesive right along both edges of the zipper. I recommend using a really strong adhesive like scor-tape to help the zipper work really well.
I stamped more of that gorgeous Background Basics: Medallion on the rustic cream card base, this time with pure poppy and raspberry fizz inks. I LOOOOOOOVE this. Ack!
Ok, focus Dawn (haha!)....so the fillable frames #4 die was used again here, as well as a coordinating stamped frame. The "YOU" sentiment is one from the new Simply You set. Goodness, this is a fantastic stamp set to let someone know how much they mean to you. The striped paper on either side is from the new Raspberry Fizz Pattern Pack and was die cut with the double ended banner die.
Just inside the zipper portion of the pure poppy card stock, I stamped one of the little coordinating images from Movers & Shakers Sentiments -- "pull here".
When I give this card to Bartley, he can pull that zipper open to reveal the rest of the sentiment which I'll give you a peek at here.....
How fun is that?!?!?!?!?! Seriously.......these zipper dies are my favorite ever.
And speaking of my favorites.....
When you're stamping away in your studio and you stamp a really pretty pattern that totally makes your heart go pitter patter (like the front of the card I just showed you for Bart), don't forget to pull out your iPhone, snap a picture and use it as the wallpaper on your phone!! How pretty is this?????? And yes, for the record, I did snap a picture of the aqua mist/hawaiian shores combo too, so after Valentine's Day, perhaps when spring rolls around, I can swap this one out. Although, to be fair, we all know that I don't need Valentine's Day to sport some red and pink together! Hahaha.
Anyway, that was just a little bonus idea for you...... :)
Ok, so last card for today, but this is another REALLY fun one!! I can totally see myself using these dies again and again....they're just so darn cute! These are the Sliders dies.
Here's a peek at two of the Movers & Shakers: Sliders dies. There are two sets of these in two different sizes. You need to use both of these dies together to create the slider. See where the dotted rows are on the dies? You'll want to score along those lines on your card stock, like I did in the photo.
Next, you'll adhere the two together, along the little rounded tab (see the middle of the photo). Go ahead and do any stamping you want on the inside portion and then put adhesive around 3 edges of the pocket, keeping the top edge clear.
When you adhere the pocket to the card front, it looks like this. I used more Raspberry Fizz Pattern Pack paper -- the damask print -- on the card front and stamped the "Happiness" from Movers & Shakers Sentiments in Canyon Clay ink. The Love Lives Here dies were used on dark chocolate and raspberry fizz felt to create the little stitched circle as well as the teeny felt heart.
When you follow the instructions and "PULL HERE", this is what you see.....
The rest of the "Happiness" sentiment is tucked inside the slider...."Happiness.......is having a friend by your side". I also stamped the frame from Recipe Box Label as a fun decorative element. Seriously, can you just imagine how fun it will be to give cards like this to your loved ones??? I am so excited myself, to give Bartley his zipper card!
