Helloooooo there!!
Welcome to Day 1 of the March Papertrey Countdown! All of the new products you're getting peeks at this week will be available for purchase at Papertrey Ink beginning on March 15.
For this month, I don't have any new stamp sets being released, but I do have a couple of die collections that I'm thrilled to be introducing to you today! I think you're going to like these!
First up, is the Super Stars Border Dies. This is a set of two star border dies, designed along the same scale as the popular previously released Heart Border Die. The two Super Stars Border Dies will be sold in a set for $10. They were designed to be used separately or layered together, giving you lots of design possibilities! I can't wait for you to see these little gems in action!
Here's a close up......as you can see, one is a solid star border, while the other is an outline star border. Use them alone, or layer the outline over the top of the solid. Pop them up with foam adhesive, or use them flat against each other. Stitch them together or use the outline as a misting mask! The possibilities are endless!
And.......
Just look at the ADORABLE star confetti that you get when you die cut the Super Stars outline border!!!! Is that the cutest star confetti you ever did see??? I'll show you what I did with it in a bit..... :)
First, I decided to create a layered, stitched background pattern with both border dies. I used a bit of glue on the tips of the stars, to adhere the outline to the solid border, alternating berry sorbet on top and raspberry fizz on the bottom and vice versa. After using a bit of glue to hold them in place on the cream card stock, I stitched each row in place.
A little close-up so you can see the detail. Lots of texture on this background!
And here's the panel on a card. I adhered it to a kraft card front with a bit of foam adhesive.
I die cut some kraft card stock with a Half & Half die and then used Heather's new Framed Out #2 die and stamp set (releasing on the 15th) to create the little sentiment focal point. The larger frame was stamped in raspberry fizz ink on raspberry fizz card stock while the smaller frame was stamped in berry sorbet ink on rustic cream card stock. The sentiment was stamped using kraft ink.
The other fun product introduction I have to share with you today is the new Edgers #5 Die collection! This is a set of 3 dies for $18 and when you use two of these dies together, you can create darling little cards in the shape of mini file folders!!!
Good grief, how cute is that?!
A little bit closer view. Seriously, can you just think of a gazillion uses for your own custom mini file folders?! Think of the different colors and patterns of papers you could use on these!! Not to mention, the card design possibilities!
To create a file folder, you'll want to use one of the 'back edge' dies.....either left/right justified or center justified......on one end of the card base and the 'front edge' die on the other end of the card base.
And here's a super fun birthday card using one of those little file folders! I stamped the sentiment (from Papertrey's anniversary set -- Pretty Peonies) on the little tab on the back portion of the card using dark chocolate ink.
And remember that super cute star confetti from the top of this post?!! I used the large and medium star dies from the Seeing Stars die collection to create a confetti pocket!! I simply die cut the largest star from 3 pieces of card stock -- one rustic cream, one clear and one dark chocolate. Then, I used the medium star die to die cut a smaller star from the center of the dark chocolate layer, creating a chocolate 'frame'. Next, I stacked up the layers with the cream star in the back, the confetti in the center of that, the clear star on top, and lastly, the chocolate star frame on the very top. I used a wee bit of glue to hold the layers in place, while I stitched them up on my sewing machine. How fun is that?!!
Then, I added a few stamped stars (from a new set you'll be seeing more of later in the week -- watch Nichole's blog for more info!) as well as some patterned papers from the raspberry fizz pattern pack that was released last month, as well as the new Dark Chocolate Pattern Pack that is coming out this month!! (LOVE THOSE PATTERN PACKS!)
The nice thing about these little file folder cards is you can totally turn them on their side, if that suits your overall design better. I used my tiny attacher to add a few staples to the patterned papers and topped off the berry sorbet star with a berry sorbet button.
I hope you've enjoyed today's product introductions!! What do you think of the Super Stars Border Dies and the Edgers #5 Dies so far?
Be sure to make the rounds to the other designers today.....you won't want to miss all of today's sneak peeks! Nichole Heady, Betsy Veldman, Erin Lincoln and Ashley Newell will be sharing brand new stamp sets with you and Heather Nichols, Melissa Bickford and Lizzie Jones will be giving you peeks at their newest sets as well.
Thanks so much for sharing part of your day with me! I'll be back tomorrow with more Super Stars Borders and Edgers #5 peeks!
See you then,
On a personal note: Today is our 11th wedding anniversary. Where did the time go?! It feels as if we just got married yesterday and yet I sometimes think I can hardly remember life before him. :) If it weren't countdown day, you know I would probably have a big sappy blog post dedicated to my handsome husband. ;) Instead, I just wanted to say publicly that I'm so, so blessed and honored to call him my husband. He's my best friend and my biggest cheer leader and I love him more than I can say. He's out of town today and I'm sooooo happy for him because he's reffing at the state high school basketball tournament today. In fact, he's been assigned the boys final game of the tournament, which will happen tonight. It's the biggest game of the YEAR for the entire state and not only that, but he's the "R" (the referee -- yes, I know they're all referees, but he's the 'head referee') for this game. He's worked big college games before, but at the high school level, this is certainly the biggest game of his career and I'm BEYOND PROUD of him. It's been a dream of his for YEARS to achieve this goal and work this game. We're feeling so blessed that he got this assignment and I'm cheering him on from home, knowing how much fun he'll be having working this game tonight. And I'm looking forward to celebrating 11 years with him tomorrow, once the tournament is over!
P.S. Have I mentioned what a hottie he is in his reffing uniform with his muscle-y arms bulging out from under that striped shirt?! Heeeeee. ;)
xo, sweet husband. I love you always.
