Hi there! Welcome back to the final day of the April Papertrey Countdown! Tomorrow night (the 15th) at 10pm EST, you'll finally be able to purchase all of the new goodies that you've been drooling over all week! :)
For today though, it's another Group Post day and this time, we're focusing on the newest addition to the Garden Variety line-up which includes the Garden Variety II stamp set, Year of Flowers Titles stamp set and the Seed Packet Frame 2 die! I've been dreaming of another seed packet frame & die for ages now, so I'm so happy that Nichole designed them for this release!
Nichole asked us to find an inspiration photo of some sort and use that as a jumping off point for our Garden Variety projects today. I couldn't resist this photo I found on Pinterest.....I mean, just look at all those gorgeous ranunculus!! As a side note, I have to tell you that we just planted ranunculus bulbs this year, for the first time, and just this week, they've sprouted!! Bart was watering them and came inside saying, "We have ranunculus growth! We have ranunculus growth!" Haha. It was kind of a big moment around here. (It's the little things, you know?) I was also thrilled to hear that ranunculus grow in clusters, sort of in plant form, rather than as single flowers (like a tulip) and that the more you cut them, the more flowers they produce! I'm thinking I can help those little ranunculus plants out with this! Haaaa. I'm envisioning fresh cut ranunculus arrangements like the one above, on my kitchen table all summer long! We'll see how that goes. *wink* We planted 20 bulbs, which I originally thought would be 20 flowers, so you can imagine how thrilled I was to find out that's technically 20 plants full of flowers! lol. Again....it's the little things. ;)
So it was with all that in mind that I decided to use the photo at the top of this post as my jumping off point for today's projects.
I mostly just used the colors inspiration, though my layered flowers here, are rather ranunculus inspired too.
For the card, I pulled out the Year of Flowers: Marigolds stamp set and stamped a background pattern using the flower and orange zest ink. Along the bottom of the card is a strip of patterned paper from the Raspberry Fizz pattern pack.
I die cut terracotta tile card stock with the button card die and then die cut the new Seed Packet Frame 2 from rustic cream card stock before stamping it with the coordinating frame image from Garden Variety II. In the space at the top of the frame, I stamped the word "Marigolds" from the Year of Flowers Title stamp set, using raspberry fizz ink.
The flower was created with the two smallest Notched Flowers dies and raspberry fizz felt. The layers were stitched together with a kraft button and rustic jute button twine. Behind the flowers are some leaves that were die cut from kraft card stock with a Turning a New Leaf die. I layered some leaves behind the flower and some behind the whole "seed packet" for added dimension.
I also created a fun little gift card holder using the Seed Packet Die. This little ensemble would be so fun to give to a crafty friend, with perhaps, a gift card to a local nursery tucked inside! After all, free money to spend at a nursery sounds like the perfect gift to me! Ha.
Again, I used the button card die to die cut some Raspberry Fizz Pattern Pack paper, which serves as the background for my flower. The button card die cut was adhered directly to the kraft seed packet. Again, I die cut another new Seed Packet Frame 2 and stamped it with the frame and another little 'sentiment' from Garden Variety II at the bottom of the frame, as well as another title -- Sweet Peas -- from Year of Flowers Titles.
The flower, this time, consists of terracotta tile felt, raspberry fizz buttons and chocolate baker's twine. The Notched Flowers dies were used again here, but this time for the leaves I busted out a Delightful Dahlia die. The small leaf die from that collection was just perfect!
Here's another fun garden-y card for you. I love that new Seed Packet Frame 2 die and even more than that, I LOVE how well the Notched Flowers Dies work with it!! A match made in Heaven!
The striped and dotted papers are from the Aqua Mist Pattern Pack. The button card, this time, was die cut from new leaf card stock and the frame was stamped with new leaf ink. The 'sentiment' at the bottom of the frame, as well as the banner at the top (both from Garden Variety II), were both stamped in aqua mist ink.
The flower was created with aqua mist felt and a snippet of Hero Arts adhesive lace, as well as a new leaf button and baker's twine. A little Prima crystal (Say It In Crystals) was added as a sparkly accent.
The "thank you" sentiment along the bottom was the perfect finishing touch. It comes from the new Think Big Favorites #15 stamp set.
One more before I go.....this one is nice and simple and highlights another sentiment from Tagged Sentiments. I stamped the frame from Modern Wood Mats in kraft ink on the rustic cream card base.
Then, I added a flower die cut from Harvest Gold felt with the Notched Flowers dies. A kraft buttons and some dark chocolate baker's twine and grosgrain finished the flower off nicely.
Lastly, I stamped the sentiment from Tagged Sentiments on the bottom of the card in dark chocolate ink.
I hope you've enjoyed today's garden inspired projects! Be sure to visit each of the girls on the team today, for all of their Garden Variety projects, as well!!
