Hey there!
Back today with lots more fun projects to share with you! All of the products you're getting peeks at this week will be available at Papertrey Ink beginning on April 15 at 10pm, EST. Today happens to be the first group post for the month, and today the entire design team is focusing on a new product line designed by Nichole Heady with concepts by Mish Wooderson! The line consists of the Strawberry Patch and Strawberry Patch Sentiments stamp sets as well as several dies.....Strawberry Patch dies, Perfect Patches dies and a super cute Berry Basket die!! (Seriously....what will Nichole think of next?!)
Let's start off the fun today, with a couple of Strawberry Patch projects, shall we?
I have to show you this new berry basket first because......well, just looooook at it! Is that not the cutest paper basket you've ever seen??? It's definitely tops on my list and I think you'll see today, after visiting all of the designers' blogs, all kinds of cute things you can use this little basket for. I decided to show you just how cute it can be for packaging up the gift of some home-grown produce!
If you've been hanging around here for long, then you've probably seen some of my tomato plant pictures.....we've taken to planting tomato plants in our yard the last few years and growing our own heirloom tomatoes. There is just nothing like the taste of a fresh-off-the-vine heirloom tomato, warmed by the sun, with a bit of salt and pepper on it........mmmmmm. My mouth is watering as I type this!
Now, admittedly, I try to be a giving person, but I'm rather stingy with our home-grown tomatoes every year! LOL. We haven't yet gotten to the point where we ended up with a literal surplus of more tomatoes than Bart and I could happily eat. However, the idea behind my little gift today, is for those of you that grow your own fruits and veggies and either have more than enough to give some away, or those of you that are just less selfish than me!!! :) Either way, just imagine your own home-grown treats packaged in this darling berry basket! It's made from two sheets of card stock -- you use the berry basket die to die cut each of the four sides (so you run the die thru your machine 4 times) and then you adhere the sides together with a bit of scor-tape. The bottom flaps on the basket just tuck together, like you would a cardboard box. In all the years I've been putting together little baskets and boxes and bags and such, I have to say that this is by FAR the easiest to put together. I'd whipped this little dude up in no time, added a bit of fabric from my stash to the basket and all that was left was to make the cute little tag to hang on the side.
I also want to mention -- just to give you a size reference -- there are 8 roma tomatoes in the basket (see the photo above). While it pained me to have to show you store-bought tomatoes for this project rather than our home-grown ones *wink*, I did want to point out that this basket is pretty big! It probably could have actually held a couple more, if they were small like romas.
Is it planting day yet?????
Of course, for the tag, I couldn't resist using one of the tags from my Tagged Sentiments set!! How cuuuute is that?! Oh my goodness, you could use this particular tag on all SORTS of gifts for people. I love that!
So I stamped the tag on rustic cream card stock with pure poppy ink and layered it on a limitless layers die cut. Behind the circle, on the left, is a snippet of hawaiian shores twill tape. On the right, tucked behind the tag are a couple of layers that were die cut with the new Perfect Patches dies. I stamped on the cream layer, with the cute plaid vintage fabric image from Strawberry Patch with hawaiian shores ink and layered it on the new leaf die cut. I adhered all the little bits together and then punched a slightly larger hole thru the top of the tag and tied it onto the basket with a bit of pure poppy baker's twine. Easy peasy, but super cute, wouldn't you say? I don't know about you, but I'd love to get some home-grown veggies packaged up in such a cute way!!
Here's a fun little card I whipped up using Strawberry Patch and Strawberry Patch Sentiments! Strawberry Patch contains both solid and outline images so I was able to stamp the outline of the entire image in black ink and then stamped all of the solid images "inside" the lines so....no coloring involved here at all!
A few rhinestones were added to the centers of the flowers for a bit of added flair.
The sentiments are both from Strawberry Patch Sentiments. I stamped the "you've been so" in black ink and the "sweet" in hawaiian shores ink.
Here's another Tagged Sentiments card for you. For this one, I started out with a square card base of rustic cream card stock and stamped Heather's Background Basics: Postmarks set using the new hibiscus burst ink.
I added a kraft layer that was die cut with a Half & Half die, followed by some striped paper from the Raspberry Fizz Pattern Pack that was die cut with a new Limitless Layers: 3.5" Oval die. Next came the dark chocolate layer cut with a Doily Details die and then a couple of Limitless Layers: 1 3/4" circle die cuts. The rustic cream circle was stamped with the "You are just 2 sweet" tag from Tagged Sentiments, using raspberry fizz ink.
Before I go of course, I have to share another Notched Flowers Dies card with you! For this one, I started out with a raspberry fizz card base. You might notice similar elements on this card, to one I shared yesterday, in that I used the wine bottle tag die to die cut some smokey shadow striped paper and adhered it in the center/top of the card. Just below it, I stamped another sentiment from Tagged Sentiments -- "Thinking of you just because".
Notice though, that where yesterday I added a row of butterflies and flowers down the center of the striped panel, today, I've chose to just add a cluster of off-set flowers. This shows that you can take the same basic layout....the same starting point.....and simply by changing up the details a bit, can have two very different looking cards! You don't have to reinvent the wheel with every single card. ;)
The flowers were cut from raspberry fizz and melon berry felt using the new Notched Flowers dies and the leaves were cut from vintage cream felt with a Turning a New Leaf die. I simply turned the leaves and positioned them differently for each flower, but both leaf clusters were cut with the same die! The flower layers were stitched together with button twine and vintage cream buttons. Before adhering the buttons to the card front, I splattered on a bit of Mister Huey's calico shine spray and then finished things off by adding a few Prima {Say It In Crystals} crystals. Man, I love those things! (Link below -- I showed you the turquoise/aqua/green ones the other day.)
