Hey there!
Today is the first of the month, so you know what that means.....it's time for the Senior Design Team Challenge at Papertrey Ink! This month, Nichole's challenged us to pull out our Year of Flowers stamps and playyy! Each of the designers has chosen a different set to work with and I chose Year of Flowers: Morning Glories!
Here's how I started out......I stamped the entire morning glories image on a piece of vintage book print, using new leaf ink. (In case this has not become painfully obvious to you yet, I LOVE the new New Leaf ink.) :)
Next, I stamped the same image on a tag sale #6 die cut, making sure to position the tag first, over the book print and then moving it back off before stamping, so I could make sure both images would be fairly lined up once the card was put together.
Then, I stamped the image one more time on Raspberry Fizz dotted paper from the Pattern Pack, using Palette Noir ink, and then cut out the flowers.
I busted out some Copic markers and added shading to the flowers and colored in the leaves on the tag as well as the tips of the leaves that would be showing, on the book print.
Then, I adhered all 3 layers with foam adhesive. What a fun look, huh?
Side note: Don't you love it when you make a card that really makes YOU so happy to look at it?? I don't "lovey-love-love" every single card I make, but I was pretty darn pleased with this one. ;)
Let's talk about the sentiment for a moment now, shall we? I wanted to use the thank you sentiment from this morning glories set, however it was too big and too long for the little space I had to work with down in the corner of the card.
See the stamp on the block? Way too big for that little corner. Sooooo......I masked off the bottom portion of the sentiment with scotch tape and then stamped the THANK and YOU on two different ends of a piece of kraft card stock that was die cut with the double-ended banner die. I only inked up one word at a time when stamping on the little 'flags'. Then, I just stitched them in place! I LOVE that I can get way more mileage out of my stamps, by looking at them a little differently and really making the stamp fit the space I have to work with!
Be sure to get around to see each of the other Senior Design Team girls, to check out their Year of Flowers projects today! And if you haven't lately, pull out your own Year of Flowers stamps and give 'em some love!
