Hi there!
One more Papertrey Group Post for you this week and boy, is this another fun one! Not only do I have lots more Signature Greetings II to share with you today, but I also get to help introduce you to another stamp set that Nichole Heady designed based on concepts from Ashley Newell. The set is called Fabulous Frames and it is a collection of frame-building elements and a Polaroid-style frame too, and the elements are soooo fun to work with and not only that, but they work so well and so eeeeasily on soooo many different types of projects!! Just wait till you see.... :)
The whole team was challenged with making a card and a scrapbook layout using Fabulous Frames, so let's start with my scrapbook layout. I used a photo of me and our super sweet, brand new niece, Baby Laynie. I trimmed my rustic cream card stock to 8 1/2" x 8 1/2". I plan to keep this out in the studio for me to see, so I wasn't worried about it fitting into any kind of scrapbook.
Next, I added a 6 1/2" squared piece of bitty dot paper from the aqua mist pattern pack and I splattered on some Mister Huey's spray mist in classic white.
In the left corner around the photo, I added lots of flowers that were stamped and die cut using the new The Sweet Life stamps and dies. I stamped the flowers using aqua mist, hawaiian shores, and ripe avocado inks -- I LOOOOVE this combo! And I stamped the leaves with simply chartreuse and ripe avocado inks.
Just under the aqua mist paper in the left corner, I added the snap shot image from Shutterbug Special, and wrote in the date of the photo, which happens to also be the day she was born! :)
In the lower right corner, I stamped one of my favorite sentiments from Signature Greetings II -- "Hello Buttercup".....such a sweet and fitting sentiment for the first day we got to meet this little bundle named Laynie.
To the right of the photo, I added one of the new building elements from Fabulous Frames. Man, I love that image and it's matching die! I die cut simply chartreuse card stock and stamped it with the coordinating image using simply chartreuse ink. The sentiment (also from Fabulous Frames) was stamped using smokey shadow ink.
In the upper right corner, I added letters spelling out Laynie's name, using the new Modern Alphabet and Modern Alphabet Upper die sets. I stitched thru the letters after adhering them in place. Just below her name, I added one more die cut -- another from Fabulous Frames, and stamped the coordinating banner with aqua mist ink. Laynie and I are the only two summer babies in the whole family, so I wanted to add that little tidbit to this layout. We're nearly birthday twinsies, with her being born the day before my birthday!
So I have to back up just a smidge and tell you that I created this card first, before the layout you just saw. But I LOOOOVED the color combo so darn much that I decided I wanted to use it on my Laynie layout as well, so I could keep it in my studio to stare at any time I want! Hahaha. So to answer the question, "Which came first, the card or the layout?", the answer would be the card! :)
All of the elements on the card, including the sentiment, were also used on the layout. Don't you love that color combo on these flowers?! They're so vintage-y and Heather Bailey-ish.....dreamy.
And really, what's not to love about "Hello Buttercup"??? ;)
So I told you earlier in the week that I could NOT stop using The Sweet Life stamps and I hope to show you by the end of today's post, just how well The Sweet Life flowers work with not only my Signature Greetings II stamp set, but also elements from Fabulous Frames! They all work so well together and yet you can get a zillion different looks with them!
I've also come to realize this week, that I could make cards with flowers on them till the cows come home! Give me a great flower set and I can make a card for nearly ANY occasion. Well, any occasion involving a female, anyway! Haha. I know there are people that aren't really flower people, but I am definitely not one of them. I don't really need much else, as long as I've got my flowers! LOL.
Anyhoo...
This one is soooo simple, but gosh, it's sweet. Don't you think? The card base is rustic cream and I layered some fine linen dotted paper on top. The flower (from The Sweet Life) is stamped with berry sorbet ink, followed by pure poppy and scarlet jewel. What a striking combo that is! I can't wait to make more of these! As for the leaves, I wanted to keep them super neutral and adding green leaves was just throwing off the overal look I was after, so I stamped them in kraft and dark chocolate inks. Perfect.
The cool banner element below the flower is another from Fabulous Frames that I die cut and stamped with dark chocolate ink. And of course, the sentiment is from Signature Greetings II.
So this one, is more of the same three stamp sets and yet, look what a drastically different look I was able to achieve!
The tiny flowers are from The Sweet Life and they were stamped with harvest gold, summer sunrise and orange zest inks. The "just because" sentiment from Signature Greetings II was stamped in ripe avocado ink to coordinate with the leaves. They're stamped on a die cut layer (Fabulous Frames die) that was stamped with a coordinating image from Fabulous Frames using hibiscus burst ink and that layer is stacked on a couple of limitless layers: 2 1/4" square die cuts.
The large Polaroid-style frame was die cut from rustic cream card stock and stamped with the coordinating polka dot frame from Fabulous Frames using hawaiian shores ink. The raspberry fizz striped paper was die cut along the bottom edge with an Edgers #1 die and it was layered on a kraft card base. Summer sunrise twill tied in a simple knot finished things off.
One more for you today....this one shows the power of rustic cream card stock and a few stamps!
The "Hey there" sentiment from Signature Greetings II was stamped in dark chocolate ink, directly on the card base. I die cut and stamped a flower and leaves from Pretty Peonies using hawaiian shores and new leaf inks and layered them on the die cut frame from Fabulous Frames, which was stamped using summer sunrise ink.
I tied some chocolate baker's twine around the frame and added a few hawaiian shores buttons. The bottom of the card base was die cut using an Edgers #4 die and the edges of the card were inked with vintage touch tea dye ink.
Whew! I've showed you lots and lots of sentiments from Signature Greetings II this week, and believe it or not, but there are still a few more that you've yet to see so be sure to peek at the whole set once it's revealed on the 15th!
Thanks so much for visiting me today! I'd love to hear your thoughts on this release!! What are you excited about? I'll be back tomorrow with the rest of my projects for this release so I hope you'll join me! For now, be sure to visit each of the girls on the design team to see what they've created using Fabulous Frames!
