Hi Again! Time for more Stamp-a-Faire fun.....this time, it's a Limited Supply Challenge. Nichole gave each of us on the design team, the same list of supplies we could work with and using only those supplies, we've each created a card to share with you. You can play along as well, using the same list of supplies!
You can use as many or as few of those supplies as you'd like. You can also add in dies, twine or glitter and any ink you choose.
To get started, I thought I'd show you a little comparison using the two-step flower images from Natural Beauties. (Natural Beauties is the exclusive Stamp-a-Faire set that you can get for FREE today with a $100 purchase at Papertrey Ink!) I LOVE these flowers and now that I've stamped with them, I love them even more!!
In the photo above, you can see three different color combos on the flowers. Originally, I thought I'd stamp the solid flower base in aqua mist ink and then stamp hawaiian shores ink with the 'shadow' image over the top. That makes sense, right? Light aqua with darker aqua. You can see that combo on the right. Not very dramatic, is it? I thought for sure that the lighter aqua with dark aqua over top, would be stunning, but it turns out, there just wasn't enough contrast between the two colors and a lot of the definition in that shadow overlay image was lost. That's when I started playing around with other options.
The top flower on the left is stamped in aqua mist for the solid flower and the shadow image over the top, is stamped in simply chartreuse ink! A very cool look, stamping the light-ish green over the light aqua. Which then made me think, what if I stamp the darker aqua (hawaiian shores) with a dark green on top (ripe avocado), so that's what I did. And the result? Stunning!! The flower on the bottom left, is sooo dramatic, don't you think? It almost has a vintage feel to it and I loooove that!
Don't be afraid to play around with color combos like this. What I thought would be the best option ended up being my least favorite, so I'm glad I experimented a bit!
Here are those flowers all together on the card. I used lots of the different flower images and leaves from Natural Beauties to create all the different elements here -- each flower is a little different than the next. I also stamped some of the leaves on the simply chartreuse card stock panel and some on white card stock. All of the flowers and leaves were hand cut. Man, I'm spoiled. I'd like Natural Beauties dies, thank you very much. :)
How gorgeous is this sentiment too?????? Holy smoke! Not only is it just pretty to look at -- what a pretty mix of fonts -- but I also love what it says. This sentiment from Natural Beauties was stamped in ripe avocado ink and I added the little hand cut butterfly to accent the sentiment.
Don't forget that not only can you play along with this fun challenge, as well as all of the others today for Stamp-a-Faire, but you can also get this stamp set for FREE, with a $100 purchase (today only - July 21- between 7am EST and 11:30pm EST, limit one per customer)!
