Hello and happy Valentine's Day to you!!!! (And also, a very happy birthday to my sister!! Love you, Diann!)
Well, have you been enjoying all of the Papertrey Anniversary festivities? I sure hope so! But we're not done yet.....it's time for one more group post and today we're featuring a new line of products designed by Erin Lincoln & Nichole Heady that will allow you to make some darling gifts for the little ladies in your life (and the grown-ups too)! Bartley and I just happen to have a pint sized fashionista in our family....our niece, little miss Zoey, is not quite two years old and LOVES to get all dolled up, so I had a ball creating a little something special for her hair today.
To get started, I used the new Boutique Accessories Card die to cut out some rustic cream card stock and on the back layer, stamped the 'handmade' image from the new Boutique Accessories stamp set, using dark chocolate ink.
Then, I set about making hair clips for Zo-zo. Here's how....
These are the dies I used and the pieces I cut out with each. I used the new Clever Barrette Cover dies by Erin Lincoln, to cut out three pieces of kraft felt (using the two plain edged dies) and one piece of vintage cream felt using the scalloped edge die. I also cut out three pieces of Papertrey's new burlap, with the beautiful blooms II dies, to create a flower.
Above is a peek at what the barrette cover looks like when all three layers are stitched together.....this is the top side view (just waiting to be embellished)....the dies punch out stitching holes to guide your stitches. Simply sandwich the layers together with a hair clip in between and stitch them up with some embroidery thread.
Here's a peek at the back side.
And here there are all put together. I stitched the burlap flowers together with a button and baker's twine and then adhered them to the clips with glossy accents. The top layer on the Boutique Accessories Card die has slits die cut for you to simply clip the barrettes onto.
Next up, I decided to make a fabric flower hair pin for a grown-up, although certainly this could go in a tiny miss's hair too!
I used the largest Cutting Garden flower die to cut out 10 fabric flowers. I folded one flower in half and cut two small slits in it which I used (after all the stitching was done) to slip the bobby pin onto. Next, I unfolded that slit layer to serve as the flat backer for all the other layers. I sloppy-folded each flower sort of in half and then in half again, only messier than that, and stitched just the point of the messy fold to the center of the flower with the slits in it. After stitching all the folded up flowers onto the flat flower, I slipped the bobby pin thru the slits on the back layer so the flower is ready to be pinned into someone's hair.
For this card, I just used the back layer of the Boutique Accessories Card die and stamped it with a Boutique Accessories image up top, using melon bery ink.
At the bottom of the card, I stamped the birthday sentiment from Cutting Garden, so this little hair pin is ready to be given away for a birthday!
To secure the hair pin to the card, I simply cut a small slit in the center of the card, and slid one half of the bobby pin thru the slit. Easy peasy!
Suppose hair pins aren't your thing. What about flower pins that you can pin on your sweater, jacket, scarf, hat or even purse? That's what I whipped up next.
Let's start with the card. I used the Boutique Accessories card dies again...the back layer was stamped with a coordinating image from Boutique Accessories. The front layer was die cut from pure poppy damask patterned paper. Because the paper is thinner than card stock, I wanted to secure it almost flush with the back layer (instead of curving forward, as it's designed), so I trimmed off the tabs on either side after adhering it to the card.
As you can see, the Handmade image was stamped with pure poppy ink.
For the flower, I started out by die cutting the scalloped circle layer from the Limitless Layers: 2 1/2" circle die collection from some of Papertrey's new burlap. Then I die cut 5 of the solid circles from the same die collection. One circle was layered on the burlap and the other 4 were folded in half and then half again before I stitched their centers to the center of the flat felt and burlap layers. Next, I die cut some leaves from kraft felt with the Frilly Flowers die and stitched those to the back two layers. Lastly, I stitched a fine linen button with some dark chocolate baker's twine and then secured the button to the flower with Glossy Accents.
Here's a peek at the back side......I also used glossy accents to secure the pin back to the flower.
How about we switch gears for a bit and focus on some cards now? This was a fun one....I paired the Boutique Accessories Card die and stamp set with Cutting Garden to create a fun little birthday card!
The card base is kraft card stock topped with fine linen dotty paper. The image from Boutique Accessories was stamped with hawaiian shores ink and a bit of chocolate baker's twine was tied thru the top.
The Cutting Garden stamps and dies were used to create the flowers and leaves along with new leaf and pure poppy ink. A sentiment panel was added along the bottom of the card with the birthday sentiment from Cutting Garden.
One more for today....a sweet and simple one for Grandma. I pulled out some guide lines grid card stock and stamped it with Polka Dot Basics II using soft stone ink. Then I stamped some Damask Designs right up the center, using versamark ink and then heat embossed it with Rouge Zing embossing powder.
The Boutique Borders: Mother stamps and die were used to create the focal point. The frame was stamped in smokey shadow ink and the sentiment (the third one in Boutique Borders: Mother) was stamped in pure poppy ink. A resin flower topped things off.
All righty, Crew....I'm off for today, but I hope you've enjoyed today's projects! Thanks so much to each of you that have left sweet comments for me this week -- I appreciate each and every one!
