Hellooooo!
We've got another fabulous Papertrey Group Post for you today and this time, we're introducing a few new products to you! Maile Belles has designed another darling stamp set called Birthday Style that has some of the cutest streamers and other birthday elements, that you ever did see! Not only that, but Nichole Heady has designed a new tag set after much customer request for lots of "tos and froms" to be used on tags. So this new stamp set is called To You From Me. She's also designed a fun new die set called Get a Handle On It, which will basically let you add your own handles to just about anything you can dream up! Haha!
For today, we were each asked to create a tag/wrap and a card, utilizing these new goodies, and here is what I've come up with!
(Remember that all of the new goodies you're getting peeks at today will be available for purchase at Papertre Ink at 10pm EST on March 15.)
I am all for buying gift bags from the store. However, the other day I wanted to buy a REALLY cute gift bag from Target, except that it came in a set of two gift bags -- the REALLY cute one and this plain pink one. Now don't get me wrong....there's nothing wrong with this plain pink gift bag. However, with the new Get a Handle On It dies, it's super easy to take this plain, slightly boring gift bag and turn it into something adorable and totally custom! I love that!
To get started, I used pinking shears to cut off the top portion of the gift bag, just below the handles.
Next, I die cut some kraft card stock using the Get a Handle On It "handle" die and stamped the handle with Polka Dot Basics II, using versamark ink. I put a bit of scor-tape on the back side of both rounded ends (just on the ends) and adhered either side of the handle to the front and back of the gift bag. (You'll want to be sure and put your treats in the gift bag before adhering the handles.)
Then I used the banner die from the Get a Handle On It die collection, and die cut some vintage book print. I looped it thru the handle and adhered the back of the banner to the front of the handle. Then on top of the banner strip, I added a Rosie Posie die cut flower (stamped with raspberry fizz and pure poppy inks and the Rosie Posie and Rosie Posie Step 2 stamps) and some fine linen bitty dot flowers, die cut with the Rosie Posie dies.
A gift tag was tied to the handle with a bit of chocolate baker's twine. The rustic cream tag was die cut with the tag sale #5 die and stamped with the banner and leaf images from To You From Me, as well as the "To:" and "From:".
Here's a card for you, that could easily be given with the gift bag. I used the same colors to help it coordinate.
The card base is raspberry fizz card stock topped with kraft card stock that was stamped with the "bubbles" image from Birthday Style. The little banner at the top is from To You From Me and was stamped on rustic cream card stock with dark chocolate ink and hand-cut. I added a snippet of vintage book print on top and stamped the leaves image from To You From Me, as well as the teensy flower, using raspberry fizz and pure poppy inks.
The sentiment is from Birthday Style, as well as those darling streamers! I die cut them first from rustic cream card stock, using the new Birthday Style dies and then stamped them with the coordinating images from Birthday Style using pure poppy and raspberry fizz inks again. Along the bottom of the card is a bit more vintage book print that was die cut with the small scalloped border die. Some red sequins finished things off.
TIP: When using book print, keep in mind that it's perfectly fine to turn the print sideways like I did on the border above. By turning it sideways, you get the pop of text on the card, without the eye wanting to actually read it. It allows it to be the visual element you're looking for, without the distraction of what the words actually say.
Moving on, how about some chalkboard gift tags? :)
I used Birthday Style, To You From Me and Boutique Borders: Birthday on these gift tags! I love how well all three of these stamp sets play together on these tags! On each tag, I simply heat embossed the images and sentiments with white embossing powder and then rubbed on some fresh snow ink with a sponge dauber. Seriously easy!! I kept them very simple. I know you can add more steps to make them even more chalkboard-ish, but I love how quick and easy these are, and yet they still totally look chalkboard-y. :)
For the upper left tag, I stamped one of the banner images from To You From Me and then stamped a sentiment from Boutique Borders: Birthday inside the banner opening. Look what a perfect fit that is! Then I topped it with two of the solid streamers from Birthday Style.
Upper Right -- I stamped the frame and a sentiment from Boutique Borders: Birthday and then added the little "With love" from To You From Me.
Lower Left -- I stamped the sentiment and two candles and flames from Birthday Style, followed by the large dotted streamer (also from Birthday Style).
Lower Right -- I stamped another banner image from To You From Me, as well as a "To:" and then added the small dotted streamer from Birthday Style. (To fill in the "To:", I'll simply use a white colored pencil.)
Some pure poppy baker's twine was tied on to each, to finish them off.
Next up, how about a window card?
Here's what it looks like when it's closed. I cut and scored rustic cream card stock to create the card base and then used the square Limitless Layers die, to cut a square from the front of the card. Next, I stamped half of the frame from Boutique Borders: Birthday four times, working my way around the window, to create a fun dark chocolate frame.
While the card was closed, I stamped the sentiment from Birthday Style thru the window and then opened the card to stamp the balloons using orange zest and pure poppy inks.
After stamping the balloons, I used the 'balloon string' image from Birthday Style to add strings to the balloons, however I wanted them to be shorter, so I only inked part of the string to get them to be the size I wanted. I also stamped the dark chocolate ink off twice on scratch paper, to get them to be much lighter than the sentiment, so they wouldn't make it hard to read the sentiment. Lastly, I stamped the bow from Birthday Style.
One more for you today.....this one pairs To You From Me with Boutique Borders: Birthday.
I started out with a rustic cream card stock panel and stamped the banner image from To You From Me in hawaiian shores ink and then stamped the 'arrow' image twice, extending the banner. Next, I stamped the frame and sentiment from Boutique Borders: Birthday using ripe avocado ink. Lastly, I stamped the circle image from To You From Me, using limeade ice ink. It fit just perfectly around the banner and frame images and adds an interesting bit of detail! By stamping it in a much lighter color, it allows it to "pop" without detracting from the sentiment or making it hard to read.
Along the bottom of the card, I added strips of ripe avocado and rustic cream card stock as well as some dotted paper from the new ripe avocado pattern pack. The wine bottle tag die was used on some limeade ice bitty dot paper and a hawaiian shores button threaded with button twine finished things off.
Whew! That's it for me today, but I'll be back tomorrow with the last of this month's release projects. In the meantime, be sure to visit each of the designers, for their Birthday Style projects!
